Drummer and singer for The Police.

Member of popgroup Animal Logic.

Played drums, percussion and keyboards on Peter Gabriel's album "So" (released 1986).

Composed the opera "Holy Blood and Crescent Moon," about the Crusades, for the Cleveland Opera Company, and the ballets "King Lear" and "Prey" for San Francisco Ballet and Ballet Oklahoma, respectively.

In addition to the Police, Copeland was a member of early-90s jazz/pop trio Animal Logic, along with bassist Stanley Clarke and vocalist Deborah Holland.
