On Monday night, Turner Classic Movies is presenting an evening of Mia Farrow films including two rarely-seen gems:See No Evil, in which Farrow plays a blind girl facing a terrifying fate and A Dandy in Aspic, a 60s spy thriller directed by Anthony Mann and co-starring Laurence Harvey. Every week, Film School Rejects presents a movie that was made before you were born and tells you why you should like it. This week, Old Ass Movies presents: Room at the Top (1959) The class wars concept has always been handled in a not-so-subtle way by manipulative and creative minds alike. In the latters' case there are probably two ways to do it. You either use your characters as toy soldiers to pinpoint some didactic pre-determined class-conscious moral or use the stereotypes that go with that to establish your characters' starting position and let them develop from there. Loosely based on the true life story of Domino Harvey (daughter of actor Laurence Harvey), this film takes the viewer on an acid trip into the crazy underworld of Los Angeles. Bored with her spoiled-rotten lifestyle, Domino decides to get some kicks by joining a league of bounty hunters. It's all fun and games until mafia money goes missing from an armoured car. This film was almost over-stimulating when it came to some of the visuals. Warner Home Video has recently released a series of Paul Newman titles that have not previously been available on DVD. We'll be taking a look at some of these titles, beginning with the 1964 western The Outrage.

Paul Newman and director Martin Ritt collaborated on six films of varying quality between the years 1958 and 1967, when both men were at the prime of the careers. One of their most notable misfires was The Outrage, an ambitious 1964 remake of Akira Kurosawa's classic Rashomon redefined as a western. Kurasawa's film told of the kidnapping of an innocent couple by a bandit. The woman is raped and the husband is murdered. However, as various people recall the incident, it becomes clear there are radically different versions of what happened and who was responsible for the death.
