The Prada store in La was packed on Friday night with starlets celebrating the launch of the label's new book. Jessicas Biel and Alba kept things simple in black, as did mom-to-be Camila Alves. Christina Ricci took a break from her bikini fun with her new boyfriend to get decked out in a bejeweled white number. Chloe Sevigny, meanwhile, sported a bra-bearing look to pose for photos with pal Liz Goldwyn and Big Love costar Ginnifer Goodwin. Rachel Zoe added a little color to the proceedings with her husband Rodger. The Prada party was a prelude to the even more star-studded bash at La's Museum of Contemporary Art on Saturday, and it looks like the ladies got a head start on their fashionable partying. Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie weren't the only stars who headed out for the Moca 30th Anniversary Gala in La on Saturday night. The Jolie-Pitts skipped the red carpet, but there was more than enough star power even without the A-List couple. Kate Bosworth, Eva Mendes and Jessica Alba showed some leg in shorter dresses while Rachel Zoe and Kate Beckinsale stuck with their floor-skimming looks. The event looks like it was a huge success and they had at least one happy attendee - Rachel Zoe twittered about how much she loved the mixing of art and fashion worlds. The museum's art wasn't the only thing on display for the night - Lady Gaga performed for the crowd which also included some cute loved-up couples. Gaga played the piano and sang, wearing an outfit designed by Frank Gehry, Muccia Prada and Baz Luhrmann which were all part of an art piece. »

Marley & Me leads a strong list of contenders for the film awards
Put your paws together for the third annual Fido awards, the Oscars for canine actors, which will be presented at the BFI Southbank in London on Sunday. This year has been particularly strong for performances by four-legged film stars. It would be a huge oversight if the golden labrador (actually, all eight of them), who really got under the fur of naughty dog Marley in Marley & Me didn't run off with a prize in the romcom rover category. The nomination list for comedy canine is particularly strong – the dogs in Beverley Hills Chihuahua and the CGI film Bolt are both serious contenders, and the ensemble in Hotel for Dogs showed canine chemistry at its best.
"It has been an incredible year, and it has been great to see dogs in central roles," says Toby Rose, the founder of the Fido awards. »

Whit Stillman hasn't made a lot of films. In fact, there are only three: Metropolitan, Barcelona, and The Last Days of Disco. All filmed in the '90s, his trio of movies morphed from upper-class teen Manhattanites, to heading out into the international working world, and finally to a look into the end of disco. Unfortunately, the last was sadly overlooked because another big disco fest hit the big screen -- 54 -- which may have been terrible, but with the likes of Mike Myers and a big-name cast, it was the flick in the spotlight.
Nestled in the shadows was The Last Days of Disco, starring Chloe Sevigny and Kate Beckinsale as two young book editors who fill their nights with dance and banter while looking for romance. Each night, as they head to the club, they come across a myriad of faces, from the Stillman pro Chris Eigeman, to the likes of Mackenzie Astin, »

Absurda and Industrial Entertainment have announced that their film My Son, My Son, What Have Ye Done has set a debut theatrical-release date. The movie marks the first collaboration between cinematic mavericks Werner Herzog and David Lynch, who directed and executive-produced respectively.
My Son, My Son will open Friday, December 11 at New York City’s IFC Center (323 6th Avenue), with playdates in other cities to follow. Though word from early screenings is that it’s not really a horror film, it does deal with rather twisted subject matter—a man (Bug’s Michael Shannon) who murders his mother with a sword while acting out a Sophocles play—and features a genre-centric cast including Antichrist’s Willem Dafoe, Sisters’ Chloe Sevigny, Udo Kier (who discussed the movie with us here) and Brad Dourif. You can see the movie’s official website, with a trailer and more photos, here.

10 Awkward Movie Blow-Jobs I imagine all mainstream movie blow-jobs are awkward in one way or another, unless you're Chloe Sevigny. Something tells me there isn't an acting class for pretending to have a dick in your mouth while bobbing up and down in front of a flesh colored banana hammock. And what if there's an erection involved? How does everybody in the room ignore that? It makes for good cinema though, and that's what we're here to talk about - movies and blow-jobs. I wonder why... »

John Mayer proved to be the main attraction at last night's Stars benefit gala in La. He cracked a few jokes from the podium, before whipping out his guitar to perform some of his new music that you guys are loving. He was rolling solo for the evening, despite the recent rumors about his romancing Rashida Jones that her publicist denied and of course the ongoing Jennifer Aniston reports. Judd Apatow and Leslie Mann were the evening's honorees, and funny guys like Jason Segel and Seth Rogen came out to toast the duo. There doesn't seem to be much news about Jason's apparent romance with Chloe Sevigny, but his How I Met Your Mother costar Josh Radnor is about to see some on-screen developments with special guest star Rachel Bilson. Can the media alter the public's perception of an actor? I believe so - that's why we have the likes of Megan Fox hugging the headlines and getting the covers of men's magazines, while a lot of more talented young actresses could not even manage to get featured and have interviews. If you think about it, what has she done in the movies to deserve so much publicity and attention? - - -
- - - Some may argue, 'hey, don't blame her, she's just good at playing the Hollywood game, and she got a shrewd agent managing her career!'. That maybe so and yes, I agree when others say 'she'll not last another year - others will soon take over'. There are those who may say 'Agents and talent managers always take care of their wards - that's why stars have a public image and a private one'. »

I watched a lot this week, but most of it was in theaters and not all at home. On Monday I saw The Road and Where the Wild Things Are (review); Tuesday was Astro Boy; Wednesday was Law Abiding Citizen (review); and Thursday was Good Hair (review) and my second time seeing An Education (review). On top of that I already mentioned how I watched the unrated version of Drag Me to Hell a second time on Blu-ray, which actually is quite bloodier than the PG-13 version that was in theaters, but I would say it detracts from the film's quality compared to the original. Beyond those flicks there are a few more, and as always a few quick words on each follows.
As always, remember you can keep tabs on my personal Netflix queue right here. I now have 50 friends on the movie rental site and would love to »

For $250, four strangers agree to participate in a psychological experiment where they must spend eight hours locked in a room together. Sound like easy money? Think again.
The Killing Room is a fast-paced psychological thriller that could’ve easily fallen into the cliché category but doesn’t. After a brief introduction of the subjects, the tone immediately shifts with a shocking scene that grabbed my attention and kept me hooked in till the end.
But unfortunately this isn’t a film meant to be enjoyed a second time as once the motives of the experiment are revealed, there isn’t much else to keep this interesting. What kept me watching (other than that I promised to review it) was waiting for the big reveal, and while The Killing Room could’ve ended in a dozen different ways, the final act doesn’t disappoint. In fact, the more I think about the ending, »

Chloë Sevigny and Eliza Dushku both have big love for this taupe Kimberly Ovitz dress. Chloë chose it first, wearing the sheath for a BlackBerry bash in the Big Apple, while Eliza picked it for an appearance on The Late Show With David Letterman. Indie queen Chloë kept it simple, wearing strappy calf-high sandals, leaving her blond locks loose and keeping her makeup natural. Eliza went a little overboard on the accessories... Not only did the Dollhouse actress winterize the nude number with black tights, she also added one fingerless glove, a chunky necklace and peeptoe platform sandals. As if that wasn't enough, she wore dark berry lipstick, reminding us of her days on... »

My Son, My Son, What Have Ye Done? Directed by Werner Herzog Respected iconoclastic auteurs Werner Herzog and David Lynch collaborate on this drama, with Herzog as director and Lynch as executive producer. My Son, My Son, What Have Ye Done is inspired by the harrowing true story of Mark Yarovsky (Michael Shannon), a graduate student at Uscd who, after being cast as the lead role in a Sophocles production, went on to stab and kill his mother with an antique sabre in his neighbor's living room. William Dafoe stars as Detective Hank Havenhurst, who is called to the home where the murderer has barricaded himself in his house and taken two hostages. Across the street, Brad's mother lies dead, found sprawled in a pool of blood, and slowly a string of Brad's friends arrive on the scene, among them his girlfriend (Cloe Sevigny) and his theater-director pal (Udo Kier). Slowly, »
