First 'Battlestar' Movie Coming From Jane Espenson?

2 July 2008 11:55 PM, PDT | From syfyportal.com | See recent syfyportal news

Although no new telemovies from NBC Universal have been announced, it's possible that when "Battlestar Galactica" returns to the television movie realm, Jane Espenson will be the writer kicking it off. The blog site Galactica Sitrep says it has received a report from unnamed sources that the former "Buffy the Vampire Slayer" writer who also penned some memorable episodes of "Battlestar Galactica" will take a crack at the first movie, which also will be directed by series star Edward James Olmos. If this news does turn out to be true, it will contradict what supervising producer David Weddle told SyFy Radio just a few weeks ago. Weddle said that he and writing partner Bradley Thompson would write the first movie. "It would go back into history to tell part of the story that has never ...

12 June 2008 9:09 AM, PDT | From syfyportal.com | See recent syfyportal news

Who knows if those in charge of nominating television shows for Emmy Awards will notice "Battlestar Galactica" this year. But one thing is for sure: the SciFi Channel is still a favorite with fans. "Battlestar Galactica" earned 11 nominations for the 2008 SyFy Genre Awards, including Best Actor/Television for Edward James Olmos, Best Actress/Television for Mary McDonnell, two Best Episode/Television nods for "Faith" and "He That Believeth In Me," and a Best Series/Television nomination -- a category the show won last year for the first time. Russell T. Davies combined to equal the number of nominations earned by "Battlestar Galactica" with two of his own shows, "Doctor Who" and its spinoff "Torchwood." "Doctor Who" picked up six nominations, including Best Actor/Television for ...

Propects for Emmy acting awards

From drama, comedy and miniseries, these actors are up for the part.

By Tom O'Neil, The Envelope

June 4, 2008

Emmy's winners for acting are chosen in a three-tier system by actors who belong to the Academy of Television Arts & Sciences. During the first two weeks of June, they participate in a popular vote that determines a Top 10 runoff in each race. Finalists submit a sample episode of their best work to judges, whose scores are combined by accountants in a 50-50 mix with results of the original popular vote. The five nominees in each category are then announced July 17. Winners are decided based on judges' scores of the sample episodes and are revealed at the awards ceremony to

Olmos Says Final Cylon Has Been Revealed

29 May 2008 4:36 AM, PDT | From syfyportal.com | See recent syfyportal news

This story contains possible Minor Spoilers for the end of "Battlestar Galactica." The identities of all 12 Cylons are now known ... well, at least to the cast and crew who are wrapping up filming of "Battlestar Galactica." Edward James Olmos, who plays Adm. William Adama in the series, told British magazine SciFiNow that audiences will be shocked with the way the series ends when it hits television screens next year. "It's not a happy ending," Olmos said. "We end up with almost nothing." While it doesn't look like a great fate for the characters, the show itself will probably end up with quite a bit. The show, which already is critically acclaimed, could be a program that may still be talked about for years. "Twenty years from now, people will see this as excellent post-9/11 television," ...
