Shooting has just wrapped for season 2 of Ikea-backed Easy to Assemble from creator-star Illeana Douglas. Word is that Ikea was quite happy with the show's debut season and prompted a renewal for a second helping. The new season which launches this September, will add comedians Cheri Oteri, Ricki Lake and Tim Meadows to the already impressive cast. Returning for the second go-round is of course Douglas herself along with web regulars Ed Begley Jr., Justine Bateman, Tom Arnold and Kevin Pollack. Where the first season was shot exclusively in the Ikea store, complete with hundreds of conveniently pre-made sets, the new season is said to be only half in-store. We'll see the home live series regulars like Douglas and Bateman. We've been looking at each Meryl Streep Oscar nod and its competitive field. Previously: 78, 79, 81, 82, 83 and 85
Meryl Streep's first act was the Liberated Lady. The second was The Chameleon in which Meryl was always the lead, always had new hair, voice and body language and basically controlled Oscar's Universe. It was as if there was only 4 spots for Best Actress, one reserved for her in perpetuity. This second act ended with her intense immersion into notorious dingo-hating Lindy Chamberlain in A Cry in the Dark. [Editor's Note: Yes, I'll do a top ten performance list when "Streep at 60" wraps in mid July. I've heard your requests and I've been rewatching all the movies.]
Starting in 1989 Act III of Streep's career began but we'll get to that shortly. First, let's look at her competition in the last two years of her legendary Act II.

Vh1 makes a lot of money off of misbehavin' ladies shakin their thang and getting hammered on its reality shows. But fear not, fellow etiquette lovers, Vh1 is also providing a solution to the crass behavior so callously encouraged on "Rock of Love Bus" and "Real Chance At Love." They have taken those females and placed them under the tutelage of Ricki Lake - a veritable Emily Post I am sure you agree. Then they live in a house together and learn the finer arts of charm. Also, they get shit-faced and bitch slap each other. You can check out a new "Target Women" segment every Thursday during "infoMania" at 10 p.m. Et/Pt on Current TV. ...

The original Buffy was a silly early '90s flick featuring Kristy Swanson, dreamy Luke Perry as her Bf Pike, Rutger Hauer as the bad vamp about town Lothos, a post-Pee Wee Paul Reubens as one of his henchmen, and Donald Sutherland as a told-ya-so! dude named Merrick who warned her she was a predestined kicker of vampire ass. Blink-and-miss-it cameos include Hilary Swank, Ben Affleck, gossip columnist Liz Smith, David Arquette, and Ricki Lake. Really.
Now Buffy is getting a 21st century transfusion with help from the original director Fran Rubel Kuzui and producer Kaz Kuzui to create "what is being labeled a remake or relaunch, but not a sequel or prequel," according to Hollywood Reporter. So with that very oblique description in mind, it looks like this will be a sort of different incarnation of Buffy -- a different vampire "warrior" for a different generation. One with "franchise potential,

The third season of Charm School is ready to introduce the Class of '09. Loyal viewers of this series (I hate to imagine, but there must be some out there) will recall that the first season of Cs was hosted by the bodacious Mo'Nique, who was replaced the following season by Sharon Osbourne. This time the school bell rings with Ricki Lake as the headmistress, and the school deans are now Alani "La La" Vazquez (host of Trl and the reunion shows for Real Chance at Love and Flavor of Love) and Stryker (host of radio show Loveline). As in previous seasons, the show's contestants are made up of the loser skanks from other VH1 dating series (for the first time, Bret Michaels' cast-offs are joined by those who didn't win in Real Chance at Love). The fourteen charm school students...

Ricki Lake was sexually abused as a young child - and didn't recover from the trauma until she'd had kids of her own.
The actress-turned-talk show host blames the abuse for her lifelong battle with obesity, claiming she piled on the pounds because she "didn't want to be attractive".
But Lake insists the birth of her kids Milo, 12, and Owen, seven, set her on the road to recovery.
In her new book for expectant parents, Your Best Birth, the 40-year-old writes, "I was sexually abused (around) age six or seven."
She adds of the affect childbirth had on her, "I was able to look at my body and see what it was able to do and embrace it. Sort of let go of all the body image issues. There's a potential healing process that can take place for women, if they're just in touch with it."

Women use many different words to describe childbirth: amazing, painful, miraculous. For Ricki Lake, it was also healing. In her new book for expectant moms, Your Best Birth, the actress, 40, reveals that having her own children - Milo, 12, and Owen, 7 - helped her overcome a traumatic childhood experience. "I was sexually abused [around] age six or seven," she tells People. Giving birth helped her overcome the shame she carried around for years. "I was able to look at my body and see what it was able to do and embrace it," says Lake. "Sort of let go of all the body image issues.

A detail of John Waters's Rear Projection, 2009. Chromogenic color print. Walking into the white abyss of the Gagosian art gallery Saturday, April 11th, for the opening of an exhibit by eccentric Balitmore film director John Waters, I was nearly mauled by a throng of his flamboyant admirers, dressed like extras from the Rocky Horror Picture Show. Among the more conventionally attired were Randal Kleiser, Ricki Lake, Johnny Knoxville, Traci Lords, Jeremy Renner, Vincent and Shelly Fremont, Brett Reichman, Joe Dallesandro, Ed and Dan Ruscha, Kat Kramer, Mike Kelly, Patrick Painter and Greg Gorman. Waters’s latest collection, consisting of playfully displayed images and sculptures, is titled “Rear Projection,” a typically bawdy Watersian pun on the outdated filmmaking process wherein a foreground action is superimposed on a pre-filmed scene. (Think back to those old movies where the road is winding but charactes aren’t turning the wheel.) Like his films—which include Pink Flamingos,

Hairspray star Ricki Lake will replace Sharon Osbourne as VH1's Rock Of Love: Charm School headmistress when the reality show returns this summer. Actress and former talk show queen will host the series, which aims to teach trashy young women a thing or two about poise, grace and manners, when it returns to U.S. TV screens.
Rock matriarch Osbourne hit the headlines at the end of her stint on the show after she was accused of assaulting a contestant.
Osbourne attacked Megan Hauserman during a recording of the TV show's reunion special in Los Angeles in December after the contestant insulted her by calling husband Ozzy a "brain-dead rocker".
Hauserman claims the 56 year old grabbed her by the hair and scratched her.
Osbourne has maintained she was the victim in the alleged brawl - hinting that Hauserman purposely targeted her to land her own TV deal.

That last Charm School reunion show must have done Sharon Osbourne in, because she’s no longer the host of the show! We loved how she talked to those skanky girls in uniform, but now there’s a new boss lady in town. Ricki Lake has reportedly signed on to take over responsibility as head mistress. According to VH1, this third installment of the show will focus on taking the girls from Rock of Love and Real Chance of Love, and helping them to improve through selfless acts. That’s right! The girls are doing charity work! Ring up the...

Would you marry your brother's widow to honor an ancient custom you don't believe in? That's what successful bachelor and cardiologist Adam Kaufman is asked to do in Loving Leah. Lauren Ambrose, perhaps best known for her role as Claire Fishe in Six Feet Under, plays the 26-year-old Hasidic Jew widow in this tale that's quirkier than your average Hallmark Hall of Fame movie.
Loving Leah, which began as a small play, was brought to Hallmark by Ricki Lake, who plays a Reform rabbi in the movie. Playwright P'nenah Goldstein also wrote the screenplay: "I saw it in a way like Moonstruck or Crossing Delancey. I didn't see it as a Jewish story. It's a love story, and for a love story you have to have a great hook that brings them together. And the hook in this case was that ancient Jewish law."
Next Showing: Loving Leah airs Sunday,
