Editor's Note: Originally hailing from the capital of Venezuela, writer/director Sebastian Gutierrez has had a strange cinematic trip to where he is today. Starting in 1998 with the solid thriller Judas Kiss starring Carla Gugino, Gutierrez got an unexpected bump in popularity after writing a little film called Snakes on a Plane. The man has been involved with a couple pulpy films about undead reporters and mermaids, but he's made a truly fantastic (and strange) film with Women in Trouble, and he did it by calling up a few friends and filming on the weekend. The sequel Elektra Luxx is already in post, and he's working on a third installment as we speak. In November, American audiences will get to see Women in Trouble, so we thought it would be fun to have Gutierrez share his Top 5 Films with us. Nathaniel (c'est moi) is back. Thank you to the guest bloggers Robert, Ja, Adam, Jose, Rc and Kieran for letting me breathe this week. Give them a round of applause.
The past seven or eight days have been alternately stressful, joyous, upsetting, relaxing and extremely busy (offweb stuff mostly: friends getting married, work deadlines...) but all the while I didn't have that sick omgihavetopostsomething*now* feeling that I don't think is conducive to good blogging or creativity. That feeling was beginning to sully The Film Experience a bit for me and it's something I'll have to watch out for and shoo away in the future. There's hundreds of corporate movie blogs out there that provide that 12-25 daily news-posts fix. I'll just try to craft good little nuggets as I can. I cherish this little home I've made on the web and the many people (you) who walk into it »

The Panorama section will comprise a total of 50 titles with about a third of those being documentaries and here's the first 21 of the list. Oddly enough Dominic Murphy's White Lightnin' will be playing although it's having it's premier at Sundance. Another film we reported on, Uli Lommel's Absolute Evil starring David Carradine will also be playing, and I'm still wondering how the hell they got that in there.
You can check out the list of all 21 titles after the break.
