James Dean Film Set For Release Next Month

Production has been completed on James Dean: Race With Destiny starring Casper Van Dien in the title role with Carrie Mitchum as Pier Angeli with whom Dean was romantically linked, Newsday columnist Liz Smith reported today (Thursday). Carrie's grandfather, the late Robert Mitchum reportedly makes his final screen appearance in the film, playing George Stevens who directed Dean in Giant (in which Dean made his final appearance). Smith said that the film will premiere in Dean's hometown of Marion, IN on Sept. 30 and in New York in Oct.
