Holly Hunter is bidding goodbye to her gunslinging role on U.S. TV series Saving Grace - the police drama has been cancelled by network bosses.
The actress plays an Oklahoma City police detective opposite Kenneth Johnson, Leon Rippy and Laura San Giacomo on the TNT show.
U.S. reports suggest high production costs are behind the cancellation, which will see the series end in 2010, after its final season airs next summer. However, network bosses have refused to confirm the rumours.
Programming executive Michael Wright says, "Since Saving Grace began in 2007, the series has both challenged and entertained viewers in ways few other shows on television ever dare. The show's continued success is thanks to the amazing talents of Holly Hunter and (creator/writer/producer) Nancy Miller, along with a tremendous ensemble cast and a highly skilled production team. They have taken us on a unique journey, and we look forward to seeing where it will ultimately lead." »

TNT has announced that their Holly Hunter drama is coming to an end. Interestingly, it wasn't exactly the network's decision. But, regardless of who's responsible, the fans will have to wait quite awhile to see the story wrap up.
Saving Grace focuses on a police detective, Grace Hanadarko (Holly Humter), wo's great at her job but finds her personal life far more challenging. The series also features Leon Rippy, Kenny Johnson, Bailey Chase, Laura San Giacomo, Gregory Cruz, Lorraine Toussaint, Dylan Minnette, Bokeem Woodbine, Mark L. Taylor, and Tom Irwin.
The show debuted in July 2007 and attracted 6.4 million viewers, making it the highest-rated cable premiere so far that year.
Season two's debut attracted 5.2 million and, this past June, season three's return drew just 3.5 million. TNT remained very positive about the series, likely because it consistently rates »

Just When You Think It's Safe To Go Back In The TV Water
To keep things interesting (for you and for me), I've decided to reserve this first page for whatever I want to write about each week — whether that's nominations for the Woman of the Week, a news roundup, highlights of relevant tweets, or a rant about something relevant to the site.
This week, it's a rant. About (surprise) lesbians on TV. Specifically, about the new development involving the only leading lesbian on TV next season: Ming-Na's Camille on Stargate: Universe.
If you haven't been following our coverage of the upcoming Syfy series that debuts in October, here's a short summary: Ming-Na plays Camille Wray, an openly gay Hr exec who is among a group of scientists and soldiers whose ship, Destiny, gets trapped on the other side of a Stargate (a transportation device to other galaxies), forcing them »

The episode of Saving Grace we told you about last month, “Looks Like a Lesbian Attack to Me,” aired last night. My one word review: Ick.
Not that it was all yucky. After all, Clea Duvall guest starred.
Caution — Spoilers ahead.
Duvall played Mara, a lesbian cop whose brother Ricky was murdered. She found the body, so is devastated. She is also quite bruised from what she tells Grace (Holly Hunter) is “a fight with a s---head.” Since Ricky was beaten to death, Mara becomes the main suspect.
In the course of the investigation, we meet Gillian (Karina Logue), Mara’s girlfriend, who plans “outings” (yes, that’s what she said) for the lesbian community.
For some unimaginable reason, Gillian thinks Grace is a lesbian and invites her to join the mailing list for the next “Lesbian Attack,” when lesbians take over a straight bar. I loved that Grace just »
