The Nine actress said that the 5-year-old is very particular and knows exactly what he wants. Hudson is quoted by Cosmopolitan as saying: "My mother has said, 'He'll be a director of something because everything is specific'." Goldie Hawn is convinced her grandson is going to become a director. The 'Private Benjamin' actress thinks daughter Kate Hudson's five-year-old son, Ryder, has what it takes to get behind the camera because he knows exactly what he wants. Kate said: "My mother has said, 'He'll be a director of something because everything is specific.' You know, we went to this birthday party where everybody was getting their faces painted and the kids were going, 'I want to be Spider-Man or Batman.' But Ryder was like, 'I want a red face and I want white around the eyes, I want a white mouth, I want spikes and yellow dots on each one.' "But the face painter didn't do »

Kate Hudson helped her baseball star beau Alex Rodriguez celebrate the New York Yankees' championship win on Wednesday night by partying with his family.
The actress joined celebrities including her mother Goldie Hawn's longtime partner Kurt Russell, director Spike Lee, real estate mogul Donald Trump and R&B superstar Mary J. Blige, who sang the U.S. National Anthem before the game, at Yankees Stadium to cheer the team to victory.
Hudson proved to be Rodriguez's lucky charm as the all-star team cruised to a 7-3 win against the Philadelphia Phillies, landing them their 27th World Series.
The Almost Famous star joined the victory party at Manhattan hotspot 1Oak, where she danced the night away with the Yankees, as well as Rodriguez's mum, Lourdes, and his sister, Suzy, reports Usmagazine.com. »

Kate Hudson has worked with some of the best actors in the biz, but surprisingly, she's never worked with her famous mother Goldie Hawn. “Mom and I would like to do something together,” Hudson said. “But she is so busy doing other things in her life right now that she finds really fulfilling. “We have an idea that we would like to sort of pursue, although it’s very early and we don’t know if that will ever really happen or come to fruition if it’s the right thing. “But we definitely want to have that together... »

Although it was rumored this week that Neil Patrick Harris would be hosting the 82nd Academy Awards next year (which in my opinion would have been a perfect choice), instead we’re getting a comedic duo in the form of Steve Martin and Alec Baldwin.
This sort of worries me, though. Martin and Baldwin are both obviously very talented comedic actors, but will having co-hosts interrupt the flow of the show, will one overpower the other? I don’t know how aptly Baldwin can improvise on stage, beyond the Saturday Night Live sketches that he has performed. I suppose time will tell.
This could really be a huge boost to the ratings for the Oscars. Martin draws a family crowd, while Baldwin will certainly hook in the 30 Rock-sters (as if they wouldn’t watch already). This is the first time the show has had multiple hosts since 1987, when hosted by Chevy Chase, »

Hugh Jackman, just a few days ago, refused a repeat performance as Oscar host. Yesterday, Cinema Blend reported that Ben Stiller and Robert Downey Jr. had also been offered the job, but turned it down.
The report closed on a positive note, citing that at least the choice indicated a push towards a younger, hipper direction. In retrospect, this statement is as funny as it is wrong. Why? Because the Academy announced a short time later that its choices for next year's hosts are ... Steve Martin and Alec Baldwin.
Scratch your head. Raise a furrowed brow. Begin discussions of all the odd-couple pairings in TV and movie history. Producer Bill Mechanic had this to say about the selections, made with co-producer Adam Shankman:
Adam and I, from our first meeting on, knew we wanted an emphasis on comedy. If we err in any one direction, we want to take »

Step off that ledge Oscar fans, even though Hugh Jackman has declined to return to this year's event, the show will go on. Today we've learned via the La Times that Steve Martin, a veteran host of the ceremony, and Alec Baldwin, a newcomer, will be sharing the hosting duties for the 82nd Academy Awards. Says Martin: “I am happy to co-host the Oscars with my enemy Alec Baldwin.” In the Jackman news I mused that perhaps the Academy would want to revisit their past trend of sharing the hosting duties (which they're also doing with the increased best picture noms), and now that it's actually happened I'm finding the news makes me a bit more excited for this years ceremony than usual. The last time we saw multiple hosts was in 1986 when Chevy Chase, Paul Hogan, and Goldie Hawn shared the task. Multiple hosts were also featured in several »

After bringing music to the 2009 Oscars' stage with Hugh Jackman, the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences will have more than one host for the 82nd Annual Academy Awards. On Tuesday, November 3, the show's telecast producers Bill Mechanic and Adam Shankman announced the designation of Alec Baldwin and Steve Martin as the co-hosts of the 2010 Oscars.
The hosting job will be Baldwin's first, but Martin's third. The latter has had the privileged of being the master of ceremony for the 73rd and 75th Academy Awards shows. Despite the fact that it will be Baldwin's first, it isn't his first stint at the awards show. The "30 Rock" star had once served as a presenter in 2003.
Of the match-up of the two actors, Shankman and Mechanic said, "We think the team of Steve and Alec are the perfect pair of hosts for the Oscars." They furthermore added, "Steve will bring the »

We live in a time when war movies based on toys (Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen, G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra) are better received by the public than those that have a basis in truth (The Hurt Locker). G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra, out on DVD and Blu-ray today, dances around its origins as military action figures by positioning its heroes as an elite unit, more like well-armed spies than anything resembling common soldiers. The aim appears to be similar, though: provide heroic figures that inspire others to follow in their footsteps.
Back in the 80s, movies that could be mistaken for recruitment propaganda became surprisingly common. The film industry, which had firmly resisted anything related directly to the Vietnam War while it was being waged, became schizophrenic in the 80s, releasing anti-war and pro-war flicks side by side into theaters. Here are seven key films, listed chronologically, »

Steve Martin and Alec Baldwin will serve as cohosts of the 82nd annual Academy Awards!
Telecast producers Bill Mechanic and Adam Shankman said that the duo are "the perfect pair of hosts for the Oscars."
This will be the first time for Baldwin to host the Oscars, while Martin has hosted twice before, in 2001 and 2003. Baldwin was nominated for an Academy Award in 2003 for his supporting role in "The Cooler."
This is not the first time the Oscar telecast is presented with multiple hosts. In 1983, Liza Minnelli, Dudley Moore, Richard Pryor, and Walter Matthau hosted; In 1986, Alan Alda, Jane Fonda, Robin Williams; Then in 1987, Chevy Chase, Goldie Hawn, Paul Hogan.
The 82nd Academy Awards will be presented March 7, 2010, at the Kodak Theatre. »

Oscar organizers on Tuesday named an unlikely pair of hosts for March's Academy Awards, comedian Steve Martin and "30 Rock" star Alec Baldwin, a past loser at the world's top film awards. The choice of Martin and Baldwin comes as a mild surprise on the heels of last February's Oscar telecast hosted by song-and-dance man Hugh Jackman. It earned some favorable reviews and higher viewership than the previous year. The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences, which gives out the Oscars, had previously hired "Hairspray" director Adam Shankman to co-produce and, based on Jackman's success and Shankman's history making musicals, the betting had been that organizers might aim for another music-oriented telecast. But Martin is known as a stand-up comedian and comic actor, while Baldwin's reputation was built in theater and film dramas like 2003's "The Cooler," which earned him a best supporting actor nomination. »

Just one of the four roles pictured below earned an acting bid for its star. Which one? Here's the answer. Answer: Eleven years after she won in the supporting race for "Cactus Flower," Goldie Hawn was nominated in lead for a featherweight comic role widely dismissed as not worthy of the Oscars' attention in 1980. The other three performances pictured in this quiz were all iconic screen turns outrageously snubbed by academy members. "My Fair Lady" won eight Academy Awards in 1964, including best picture, but its "lady" wasn't even nominated, probably because voters resented the fact that Audrey Hepburn lip-synched to Marni Nixon singing. Rosalind Russell never won an Oscar, but was nominated four times. Unfortunately, she was snubbed for her greatest role — as the brazen stage mom Rose in "Gypsy." The role is so dramatically showy that it usually nabs awards attention. On Broadway, Angela Lansbury (1975), Tyne Daly (1990) and Patti LuPone »

Shankman's got spirit!
Do you follow the Oscar show news in the way you follow the Oscars? I don't so much, despite this life I lead constantly writin' about the awards themselves. I care who hosts to some degree but I tend to ignore the rest. But I found it interesting this week when director Adam Shankman (Hairspray) was named as one of the producers and his choreography skills were noted as a reason to be enthused about this assignment. At least he has a sense of humor about his, um, limited history with the big event I was one of Paula Abdul's 'Under the Sea' pirates," Shankman said. "The last time I was at the Oscars, I was in Lycra, with a pirate hat on. Shankman's presence must mean more musical numbers. I'm all for musical numbers provided they rehire Hugh Jackman as host. He was so fine last year. »

Dating Kate Hudson for several months, Alex Rodriguez is said to have been flirting with her belief Buddhism and has been considering to become its devotee. "It's an important part of her life," says an insider. "And it seems like Alex really just wants to make her happy."
Per New York Daily News, Kate brings great influence in Alex's spiritual belief change. The movie beauty was said bringing Buddha prayer beads with her to his game last Friday, October 16 as a good luck charm. "It was a long strand of brown beads, and she and her friends would pick them up from time to time," an eyewitness testifies.
A representative for Alex declines to comment on the matter though, and Kate's representative hasn't addressed the matter just yet. Though so, it is believed that should Alex convert to Buddhism, he will please Kate's mother Goldie Hawn who is active in »

Hudson has been working her prayer beads during Yankee games, helping A-Rod beat his playoff slump in the series against the Angels.
