The announcement that Quentin Tarantino recently starred in a Japanese Softbank commercial has been making headlines [1] around the web this week, and I am still not quite sure why people are making such a big deal out of it. It's no surprise that Qt is somewhat well-versed in Japanese culture and no surprise that he enjoys hamming it up for the camera either. More to the point, I don't think these goofy commercials are quite as detrimental to a celebrity's reputation as it once was believed. After YouTube and websites like Japander [2] spread them across the internet for the whole world to see, and Bill Murray poked fun at the practice in Lost in Translation, it's easy to see why the Hollywood elite shied away for a while. However, lately Japanese commercials seem to be back in vogue, and we are even starting to see domestic ads becoming more acceptable as well. »

There are many theories, ideas or should I say 'schools of thought' on how the world would end. At the height of the Cold War, nuclear annihilation ranks at the very top. While others argue it will not be man who will destroy the world (directly) but - an epidemic of global proportions (most probably from a potent strain of virus - think: I am Legend) or severe climactic change (another ice age perhaps? That would be Day After Tommorow right?) or mechanical uprising (The Terminator, anyone?) or even attack from the outside - conquering aliens (Mars Attacks!) or perhaps an asteroid. And let's not forget zombies!

This is not the usual project we write about, but I just thought it sounded cool enough to mention. THR has announced the cast for The Mortician 3D, produced by Belladonna Productions, from the on-going Afm. Hip-hop star Method Man (last seen in The Wackness) will headline along with Angelic Zambrana (last seen in Precious). Tom Hardy (Bronson) and Edward Furlong (American History X) are also in talks to join as well. The "gritty, urban drama" was written and is being directed by Gareth Maxwell Roberts (Kill Kill Faster Faster). Shooting starts this month in Louisiana. It may sounds bland, but read on for story details. The Mortician 3D is a redemption tale where kindness triumphs over cruelty and falls within the genres of urban noir, contemporary fairytale and psychological thriller. The film is set in the nightmare ghetto of a decaying metropolis and is based around about one man's »

If you’re like me, you spend nights wondering what former “T2″ star Edward Furlong and “American Pie’s” Shannon Elizabeth are up to. Okay, if you’re like me, you’re probably just wondering what Shannon Elizabeth is up to, and if she’s still single. The answer: they’re busy co-starring in a remake of the 1988 horror movie “Night of the Demons”, the trailer for which have landed online. Take a look, and wonder no more about what has become of Furlong and Elizabeth. (Though if you’re like me, you’ll probably still continue to wonder about Elizabeth, being that she’s, you know, hot and whatnot.) Maddie Curtis and her friends Lilly and Suzanne are ready for a great Halloween night. Theyre going to a party thrown by their friend Angela at the notorious Broussard Mansion in New Orleans. Over eighty years ago, six people disappeared »

For a guy whose funding is supposed to have dried up, Uwe Boll is still making a hell of a lot of movies nowadays. His latest is “Darfur”, which looks a lot like a serious attempt at getting some respect. The trailer has shown up online, and you can judge for yourself if it’s just a cheaper version of the Bruce Willis actioner “Tears of the Sun” or if this is something that will change your mind about Uwe Boll. Of course, it probably doesn’t help too much that the whole thing starts off looking like a somber documentary about the Darfur genocide before devolving into generic gunplay towards the end. And the presence of Billy Zane, Edward Furlong, and familiar Uwe Boll muse Kristanna Loken probably doesn’t help, either. American journalists in Sudan are confronted with the dilemma of whether to return home to report on the atrocities they have seen, »

I've been a huge of the original Night of the Demons for quite some time and I'm usually not one for female horror icons, but Angela does it for me in a special way if you know what I mean. Angela has been resurrected once again for the remake of Night of the Demons and will be played by Shannon Elizabeth and will co-star along side Edward Furlong. »

We recently heard that the proposed new version of The Crow is entering the casting stage after the script - by Stephen Norrington, who will also direct - was well received by studio chiefs at Relativity Media.
The Crow centres on a rock musician who is murdered trying to rescue his girlfriend from thugs and returns from the dead a year later to exact revenge. (You can read more about the reboot here)
The character was previously seen in a 1994 film starring Brandon Lee; three sequels: The Crow: City of Angels in 1996, The Crow: Salvation in 2000, and The Crow: Wicked Prayer in 2005; and a TV series The Crow: Stairway to Heaven in 1998.
Rumours have linked Luke Goss to the lead role in the new film. Goss, a former member of boy band Bros, is well-versed in fantasy roles, having played vampire Nomak in Blade 2, the creature in »

At a recent press junket for the TV movie Monsters Vs. Aliens: Mutant Pumpkins From Outer Space, Seth Rogen spoke about The Green Hornet, which he is currently shooting and co-wrote with Evan Goldberg (Superbad). Rogen told MovieWeb that it is a relief to finally be working on the oft-troubled movie.
It is [a relief]. An enormous one; constantly. But we still have to make it awesome. So the true relief isn't there yet.
With Stephen Chow dropping out as director and co-star, the release being pushed back five months, and Nicolas Cage also quitting the project, The Green Hornet has had it's share of troubles before it even started production. At one point, Rogen joked that The Green Hornet was never going to be made but would be promoted "for the next 10 years." Now that Rogen and director Michel Gondry are finally working on the movie, Rogen doesn't feel that the pressure's off. »

Edward Furlong's estranged wife filed a retraining order against the actor one week after he threatened to commit suicide, according to new reports.
Rachael Kneeland filed for divorced from the Terminator 2: Judgment Day star in July after three years of marriage.
She obtained a restraining order against him earlier this month amid claims the actor had become "unpredictable" and had turned violent during a recent argument. She alleged Furlong beat her "with chains and bats" and accused him of taking cocaine.
Furlong, who was ordered to stay at least 100 yards away from Kneeland, slammed the allegations and insisted he had been "sober for more than five years" after a long battle with drugs.
It has since emerged the restraining order was requested just days after Kneeland called the police in a panic, convinced her husband would follow through with threats to slit his wrists and bleed to death.
In a phone recording of the emergency call, obtained by TMZ.com, Kneeland tells the operator, "My ex-husband has left several messages saying that he plans to slit his wrists. I called him back and he said he's already started.
"He left several messages threatening it (suicide), saying it's my fault. He said he had started and was going to finish the job... He's really angry."
The star's current condition is unknown.
Kneeland, who has a three-year-old son with Furlong, filed a request to have the restraining order removed last week. »
