Isn't that an awesome cast? Anyway, "Red' is based on the comic miniseries and follows a former black ops agent (Willis) who has to battle a bunch of young assassins who hunt him down to kill him.
Heat Vision reports McMahon would star as a VP with a dark agenda. Borgnine plays the guy who protects the CIA's darkest records. Dreyfuss plays a wealthy man, and Cox portrays one of Willis' enemies. »

It seems every time I turn around, someone new gets added to the upcoming comic book adaptation Red. Morgan Freeman, Helen Mirren, John C. Reilly, and Mary-Louise Parker were previously cast in the Bruce Willis vehicle, to be directed by Robert Schwentke.
They will further be joined by Julian McMahon, Ernest Borgnine, Richard Dreyfuss and Brian Cox, according to The Hollywood Reporter’s Heat Vision Blog. McMahon will play the Vice-President who is responsible for ordering the killing of a former CIA agent (Willis’ character), while veteran actor Borgnine’s part has been described as "the keeper of the CIA’s darkest secrets." As for Dreyfuss and Cox, they will play a wealthy man who made a fortune on government contracts, and a Cold War spy who has a rivalry with the main protagonist, respectively.
McMahon played Doctor Doom in the Fantastic Four movies, which were also based on comic books. »

Let's be honest, without Twilight we probably wouldn't even be talking about Summit Entertainment any longer. They have, of course, been around much longer than most of us realize with films such as Memento, American Pie, Mr. and#038; Mrs. Smith, Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels and Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas as part of their production company cred. However, as distributors they have Twilight and the modest hit in Knowing (which they handled domestically and not internationally). Beyond that what are we really talking about?
They managed to squander what I understand to be a rather entertaining teen comedy in Sex Drive, Push bombed, Astro Boy is still in theaters but you wouldn't know it, Sorority Row (a teen horror with the promise of nudity) earned $11 million and the sin of all sins, Summit's 17%-Rotten Tomatoes rated Fly Me To The Moon made more money at the box-office »

Wanna make your comic miniseries-turned-feature film into a big-buzz event? Jam it full of interesting actors. It all started with Bruce Willis. Then Morgan Freeman entered the project, followed by Helen Mirren, John C. Reilly, and Mary-Louise Parker. So where do we go from here? The Hollywood Reporter's Heat Vision Blog reports that Julian McMahon, Ernest Borgnine, Richard Dreyfus, and Brian Cox are all in negotiations to board the project.
As we know, Bruce Willis will play a retired black ops dude who faces off against "younger, more high-tech assassins who show up to kill him." Turns out Mr. McMahon will be the center of this conspiracy, playing the "Vice President with a dark side." Meanwhile, Borgnine will take on "the keeper of the CIA's darkest records," Dreyfus will play a wealthy dude making a mint on government contracts, and Cox will be a baddie once again, playing "a former »

The adaptation of Warren Ellis and Cully Hamner’s Red miniseries has moved ahead and added Julian McMahon (Nip/Tuck, Fantastic Four), Richard Dreyfuss, Brian Cox, and the great Ernest Borgnine, who will play the keeper of the CIA’s darkest secrets. The film, scheduled for November 19, 2010 release, already stars Bruce Willis, Helen Mirren, Morgan Freeman, John C. Reilly and Mary Louise Parker.
Summit Entertainment, flush with Twilight cash, is producing this film based on the 2003 WildStorm miniseries about a former black-ops CIA agent whose a quiet, retired life is shattered when a high-tech assassin shows up at his home. Willis is the spy with McMahon portraying the Vice President who heads up a shadow conspiracy. The 92-year-old Borgnine will play the man who knows the dirty secrets and Dreyfuss is a wealthy industrialist who benefitted from Government contracts. Cox is a former Cold War-era spy with an axe to grind against Willis. »

We haven’t been keeping enough tabs on the adaptation of Red, based on the comic book mini-series created by Warren Ellis and Cully Hamner and published by DC/Wildstorm between 2003-2004. The film adaptation first popped onto our radar when action man Bruce Willis signed-on to star, followed soon after by the news that acclaimed actor Morgan Freeman would be joining Willis . Completing the trifecta of acting heavyweights, last week we heard that Helen Mirren was onboard for Red; that’s three Golden Globe and/or Oscar-winners coming together for an obscure comic book flick! Crazy, right?
Well it gets even crazier, as we now have more famous names to add to the cast list of Red… Last week news broke that Mary Louise Parker (Weeds) and John C. Reily were in talks for the film, and today we learn (thanks to Collider) that they will be joined by »

Exactly how many people are they going to fit in the cast of Red, The DC Comics adaptation has been adding cast members right and left ever since Bruce Willis and Morgan Freeman signed on in the lead roles, and now they're reaching way back into Hollywood's history to add what we can only hope will be the last batch of cast members. You thought Helen Mirren was old? Try Ernest Borgnine! Yes Borgnine, along with Richard Dreyfuss, Brian Cox and Julian McMahon, has jointed the lineup for the film that begins shooting next year. According to THR it's 92-year-old Borgnine's first feature in ages, while Dreyfuss is probably grateful to still be getting work after signing on to something called Piranha 3-D. In a movie about the CIA and spies, Borgnine will play a keeper of the agency's secrets, with Dreyfuss as a wealthy government contractor and Cox as »

Casting Tidbits assemble! First up, THR reports that Gus Van Sant's now untitled drama (formerly known as Restless) will be gaining the next generation of young actors as Henry Hopper (son of Dennis Hopper) and Schuyler Fisk (daughter of Sissy Spacek) join actress Mia Wasikowska in this story about a teenage boy (Hopper) and girl (Wasikowska) who share a preoccupation with mortality. Fisk will play Wasikowska's sister while other new cast members include Chin Han playing a doctor treating the girl, Ryo Kase as the spirit of a World War II kamikaze pilot who regularly visits the boy and Jane Adams as the boy's aunt. Next, Heat Vision announced even more casting for the already talent packed comic book adaptation Red, as Julian McMahon (Fantastic Four), Ernest Borgnine (Marty), Richard Dreyfuss (Jaws) and Brian Cox (Fantastic Mr. Fox) will be joining Morgan Freeman, Bruce Willis, and Helen Mirren in »

The cast of DC Comics adaptation Red is swelling with word that Julian McMahon, Ernest Borgnine, Brian Cox and Richard Dreyfuss are all in negotiations to sign up. Red's defiantly no-youngsters casting continues, with the news that Richard Dreyfuss, Brian Cox and Ernest Borgnine are all in talks to join Bruce Willis, Morgan Freeman and Helen Mirren in the adaptation of the Warren Ellis comic. A spring chicken by comparison, erstwhile Dr Doom Julian McMahon is also in the frame.Yup, you read that right. The legendary Ernest Borgnine, still working at 92, will play a shady keeper of the CIA's most compromising files. Dreyfuss is a wealthy government contractor, and Cox is a former cold-war spy, and sworn enemy of Willis. McMahon's character is described by The Hollywood Reporter as "a vice president at the centre of the shadow conspiracy": maybe a henchman to Freeman's CIA director, who wants retired agent Willis rubbed out by the next generation, to prevent word of his former activities ever leaking. So that's cast-members from Sin City, X-Men, Wanted and The »
