Celebrity Charities: Stephen Baldwin Finds Purpose in Breast Cancer Work

28 October 2009 2:49 PM, PDT | TVGuide - Breaking News | See recent TVGuide - Breaking News news »

If you're ever in Syracuse, N.Y., don't be surprised to see an 80-year-old woman in a pink helmet sitting in a sidecar of a Harley-Davidson. That's just Carol M. Baldwin, matriarch of the Baldwin clan, doing her part to raise money for her Carol M. Baldwin Breast Cancer Research Fund.

Son Stephen Baldwin tells TVGuide.com: " ... We're trying to talk her out of it because she ain't getting any younger!"

The 41-year-old Baldwin is doing his part too, volunteering on behalf of the organization, which his mother, a breast cancer survivor, created in 1996 without the help of her famous sons. "It was really after my mom had created enough awareness of the organization on her own ... that it became a catalyst for the brothers to almost have to get involved. It was pretty cool to see," he says. Since then, the organization has been a family affair and has raised nearly $3 million for research. »

Now Blago will take on The Donald's challenge to see if he has the kill or be killed stamina to survive and win "Celebrity Apprentice." This fact has prosecutors, building a case against Blago for an assortment of ethics and legal campaign violations, on edge. [DVD Review] Homeboy

3 September 2009 6:00 PM, PDT | JustPressPlay.net | See recent JustPressPlay news »

Let me just start off by saying that I fucking love Mickey Rourke. I love the goddamned shit out of him. I don't care how many unnecessary facelifts he gets or how many homophobic slurs he casually throws around while drunk off his ass; in my eyes the man can do no wrong. It's only fitting that I should warn you of this unflinching devotion of mine prior to getting into the review portion of this ode to Rourke, lest you think that I actually aim to be objective. But there is a reason for my fanatic blubbering, as Homeboy is largely just a shameless vehicle for the man in question to display his unabashedly cocky yet undeniably enigmatic persona.

To get pretentious for just a minute: Rourke was practically made for the role of the Byronic anti-hero. His steadfast stoicism heightens the emotional implications of the pained soul that undoubtedly lurks beneath the surface, »

Paul Giamatti Is A Stooge, Jim Carrey Is Not

10 August 2009 10:58 AM, PDT | cinemablend.com | See recent Cinema Blend news »

Apparently Peter Farrelly was in Boston recently as a civilian, to catch Paul McCartney playing at Fenway Park, but still managed to squeeze in an interview with Boston.com. That's where they got the news that Paul Giamatti will be replacing Sean Penn in their Three Stooges movie, but in another stroke of bad luck, Jim Carrey has dropped out. Even in the rumor stage the cast was a revolving door of A-list Hollywood names, and Benicio del Toro remains the only cast member still on board after the initial casting announcement. Farrelly wasn't saying who would replace Carrey, though Johnny Depp's name had been tossed around frequently, and he did just recently bail on Terry Gilliam because of a busy schedule. WIll he be stepping in to replace Carrey? Or is this cast going to get progressively less A-list until Stephen Baldwin is bonking Dustin Diamond over the head? »

Mr. August: Scott Norton

3 August 2009 5:44 PM, PDT | Pretty/Scary | See recent pretty-scary news »

For sweltering August, which is the best way to bring to mind the opiate-addicted romance of the Romantic poet hunks like Keats, Coleridge, Shelley, and of course, the syphilitic-but-sexy Lord Byron? By checking out a sexy horror writer! Scott Norton is the modern day equivalent of a gothic romance hero; except that he’s nothing like one. Between writing his successful horror fiction like HorrorCon and sWitch, he’s busy being a dude playing in a band and bewitching the world with his wit and charm. Oddly enough, this hunk spends most of his time indoors writing frightening things; think of him as the ‘Ted Bundy’ of horror – he’s funny and charming and you’d probably get in his car if you were hitchhiking, but there’s just something a little ‘off’. Is it merely that he’s from some ocean seaside-place with the wind blowing and the sand perfect for burying your corpse? »

Baldwin Files For Bankruptcy

Stephen Baldwin filed for bankruptcy on Tuesday, after landing in more than $2.3 million (£1.4 million) worth of debt, according to a U.S. report.

The Usual Suspects actor, who appeared on U.S. TV show I'm A Celebrity... Get Me Out Of Here! earlier this year filed for Chapter 11 protection claiming he is millions in debt - and he only owns a property worth $1.1million (£669,334).

Reports last month claimed the star's New York house was going to be auctioned off after he was unable to keep up with the large mortgage payments.

Baldwin slammed the claims, insisting that he was simply "renegotiating" his mortgage and branded the media rumours a "smear deal" against his good name.

The star owes around $1.2 million (£730,194) on two mortgages on the property and more than $1 million (£608,495) in taxes, as well as mounting credit card debt, according to the legal documents that were filed in New York.

Baldwin's lawyer has made no comment. »
