Exclusive: I spy Robert Patrick on 'Chuck'

10 November 2009 2:32 PM, PST | EW - Ausiello Files | See recent EW.com - The Ausiello Files news »

Fans of Chuck, prepare to be transported to Nerd-vana. Following the casting of Quantum Leap’s Scott Bakula as Chuck's dad, sources confirm to me exclusively that another sci-fi icon has been tapped for the show. Robert Patrick, a.k.a. the T-1000, is slated to appear midway through the third season. But rather than coming from the future, Patrick will play Col. Keller, a mysterious figure from Casey’s past in “Chuck Versus the Tic Tac,” which I hear will be a big episode for Adam Baldwin’s newly-minted colonel. Sadly for all you Buy More shoppers, there »

[TV] Justice League: The Complete Series

6 November 2009 8:30 AM, PST | JustPressPlay.net | See recent JustPressPlay news »

Before I start gushing about just how great this cartoon and, by connection, this set are, let’s establish two things. First, for every good thing I have to say about the entire set I include a single footnote: this should be available in a Blu-ray release as well, the animation would be sharper and bolder, the audio would be stunning and the entire package would have had that much more relevance considering the current trends of digital media. Second, this is so much more than just a ‘cartoon’. As is said a few times in the extra features of the series, Justice League may be the greatest superhero animated series to have ever existed. So what does that imply about this complete series set? One of the best ever?

Chuck: NBC Orders Additional Episodes for Season Three

29 October 2009 11:38 AM, PDT | TVSeriesFinale.com | See recent TVSeriesFinale news »

While some NBC viewers may still be reeling from the news that Trauma has been cancelled, there's good news for another Monday night show, Chuck.

Chuck, which stars Zachary Levi, Yvonne Strahovski, Joshua Gomez, Adam Baldwin, Sarah Lancaster, and Ryan McPartlin, was barely renewed last season because of soft ratings. But, in part because of a passionate fan campaign, NBC decided to bring it back. The fan victory was bittersweet though because the network said that they would bring it back for 13 episodes and wouldn't start airing them for almost a year.

At the time, NBC had great confidence in their 2009-10 schedule. Now that the new shows have debuted and the network is in worse shape than ever, the execs are thinking more kindly about Chuck.

With NBC's recent cancellation of Southland and now Trauma, the network is in »

Zachary Levi may reprise his role as Chuck Bartowski on some more episodes of "Chuck". According to THR, NBC has ordered six additional episodes of the show, bringing the series' total third-season order to 19 episodes.

Though the network has yet to give any official confirmation about the matter, several sources claim "this is a done deal." The new season of the hit NBC show will possibly be aired in January 2010 and may be partnered with Hayden Panettiere's TV series "Heroes", which is broadcast Monday nights.

"Chuck", which was first aired in September 2007, centers on Chuck Bartowski, a computer geek who is catapulted into a new career as the government's most vital secret agent. As the government's most precious secrets enter his head, Chuck has to be protected by CIA's top agents, Adam Baldwin's John Casey and Yvonne Strahovski's Sarah Walker.

The Center Of The Whedonverse Is In The MTV Newsroom

22 October 2009 2:08 PM, PDT | MTV Newsroom | See recent MTV Newsroom news »

It's a busy day in the MTV Newsroom today. At the moment, Tim Kash is sitting down for a chat with Alicia Keys (she says her new album The Element of Freedom will be a big, synthesizer-heavy departure from her past work). But there's another interview happening just around the corner: "Gossip Girl" and "Mercy" star Michelle Trachtenberg is here to talk about straddling two hit TV shows.

Trachtenberg is probably best known for playing Dawn on "Buffy the Vampire Slayer," a show created and produced by Joss Whedon. In the past few months, it seems as though we've had a regular rotation of alums from Whedon shows stop by to hang out and chat about their new projects. They are all members of a tightly-wound, closely-followed community known as the "Whedonverse," which represents the various projects that Whedon has worked on in his two-decade career.

We first reported on this project back in June, but now that the first mech-tastic trailer just dropped today we're even more excited to check out Joe Pearson's War of the Worlds: Goliath. I mean, it's steampunk, it's got an interesting throwback animation style and more massive rampaging robot war machines then you can possibly imagine.

Synopsis:

27 July 2009 10:35 AM, PDT | Televisionary | See recent Televisionary news »

Didn't make it down to San Diego for Comic-Con this year? Or were stuck waiting in line for the final Lost panel and didn't get to see this year's Chuck panel, moderated by Alan Sepinwall? You're in luck, my friends. Thanks to the folks at NBC and Hulu, the entire Chuck panel can be viewed in full below. (Yes, the entire panel.) Chuck Josh Schwartz, Chris Fedak, Zachary Levi, Yvonne Strahovski, Joshua Gomez, Adam Baldwin, Sarah Lancaster, Ryan McPartlin, Vik Sahay and Scott Krinsky as "epic" rockers Jeffster (performing "Fat Bottomed Girls, no less"!), and Mark Christopher Lawrence can all be seen celebrating the nearly-killed NBC series in their Comic-Con panel on Saturday morning. Plus, if you listen carefully, Televisionary itself gets a shout-out from none other than Chuck creator Josh Schwartz for having a hand in saving the series from cancellation. Aw, I'm blushing! Chuck returns to NBC at midseason. »

Comic Con 2009: Watch Jeffster! Rocking 'Chuck' Panel

26 July 2009 10:07 PM, PDT | Aceshowbiz | See recent Aceshowbiz news »

"Chuck" panel at San Diego Comic Con had a good way to warm up the air on Saturday, July 25. The presentation was opened with season 2 highlights and a footage of lead actor Zachary Levi talking to creators Josh Schwartz and Chris Fedak on how if the show got canceled. The video reel then was cut when Scott Krinsky and Vik Sahay got on the stage to perform as Jeffster!.

The fictional duo sang Queen's "Fat-Bottomed Girls" to more than 4,000 shrieking audience. In the middle of the song, cast of the show including Yvonne Strahovski, Joshua Gomez and Adam Baldwin came out in support. "Fat Bottomed Girls seems like a song that certainly Jeff would gravitate to," said co-creator Josh Schwartz.

The first thing that the panel discussed was naturally the 'Save Chuck' campaign that was launched by fans earlier this year. "You guys are incredible, I love you so much, »

Chuck Panel Rocks the House at Comic-Con

25 July 2009 12:03 PM, PDT | CinemaSpy | See recent CinemaSpy news »

Chris Fedak, who with Josh Schwartz created the NBC favorite Chuck, spent much of the Comic-Con panel writing things down. Or at least pretending to write things down.

On stage at the event, which was jump started with a performance by Jeffster!, were exec producers Schwartz and Fedak, Zachary Levi (Chuck Bartowski), Joshua Gomez (Morgan Grimes), Adam Baldwin (John Casey), Yvonne Strahovski (Sarah Walker), Ryan McPartlin (Devin 'Captain Awesome' Woodcomb), Sarah Lancaster (Ellie Bartowski), Vik Sahay (Lester Patel), Scott Krinsky (Jeff Barnes) andMark Christopher Lawrence (Big Mike).

There were a few running jokes at the Saturday morning event. The tendency of Baldwin's character to answer questions with grunts was one.

Budget cuts that came with the renewal were going to lead to changes, said Schwartz. "So we can only afford for Adam Baldwin to grunt."

"My inner monologue when I grunt is 'Joss Whedon'," said Baldwin.

#Sdcc: 'Chuck' Amuck

Man, is the Twerd Herd out in force for this panel. Not surprising, considering the subject matter, but-- wow.

Chuck came back to Comic-Con, to thank all the people who yelled and screamed and supported the show hard enough to help save it while it was on the bubble of cancellation. On hand were executive producers and co-creators Josh Schwartz and Chris Fedak, joined by series stars Zachary Levi, Yvonne Strahovski, Joshua Gomez, Ryan McPartlin, Mark Christopher Lawrence, Vik Sahay, Sarah Lancaster, Scott Krinsky (strolling on stage with his keytar to the tune of "Fat Bottomed Girls" while everyone else played air instruments) and Adam Baldwin, who was on a day pass from doing all those Joss Whedon panels.

Major takeaways from the panel:

Chuck Season 2 DVDs will be out in 2010, probably right before whenever the third season airs and that date isn't locked yet. It will feature 3D episode, »
