Last week, Sony held a press junket at the Griffith Observatory, here in Los Angeles, to help promote their upcoming animated movie Planet 51. Since the film takes place on another planet, I think the location was perfect. Also, almost every press day is held at a hotel, and it’s great to “shake and bake” the junket format. But while the location was different, that didn’t stop Jessica Biel, Justin Long, and Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson from making all the journalists laugh during most of their press conference. While you may be sick of Justin Long and his Mac commercials, the guy is quick on his feet when reacting to questions. I was very impressed.
Anyway, after the jump to can either read the transcript of the press conference or listen to the audio. While I always think listening to the audio is better than reading a trancript, »

You can tell it was a good episode of Gossip Girl because the much-hyped threesome wasn’t even the best part. In fact, it kinda yielded mixed emotions…at least from me. Hilary Duff attempting to be sexy just felt, uh, weird. I had a similar reaction to seeing Julie Andrews naked in the movie S.O.B. It’s just not something you want to see, kinda like grown women wearing Loony Tunes paraphernalia. But, honestly, the whole thing was pretty chaste. Aside from a shot of them all in bed together in the end, it was basically no more risqué »

Earlier today I attended the press day for Sony’s new animated movie Planet 51 and in attendance were Jessica Biel, Dwayne Johnson and Justin Long. While I’ll have a transcript of the entire press conference in the coming days, since Jessica Biel talked about The A-Team and Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson gave updates on a possible Witch Mountain sequel, Tooth Fairy, Jonny Quest and Namor the SubMariner, I figured you’d like to read what they had to say tonight.
While I’d love to report major news on any of the movies, it seems nothing is happening on a Witch Mountain sequel, Jonny Quest, or Namor the SubMariner. But the best news came from Jessica Biel who made it sound like The A-Team might be a lot of fun. Hit the jump for exact quotes:
Q: Can you tell us anything about The A-Team?
Jessica Biel: It’s going really well. »

The characters are voiced by Steve Carell, Jason Segel, Russell Brand, Will Arnett, Kristen Wiig, Julie Andrews, Danny Mcbride and Miranda Cosgrove and it looks like it’s going to be a pretty funny film. Like all animations that are being released at the moment, it’s going to be brought to us in 3d. We should expect to see it on our shores 15th October 2010 so a while to wait yet!
Here’s the synopsis and the trailer is below:
In a happy suburban neighborhood surrounded by white picket fences with flowering rose bushes, sits a black house with a dead lawn. Unbeknownst to the neighbors, hidden beneath this home is a vast secret hideout. »

Ever since Universal Pictures released the first teaser trailer for their upcoming animated comedy Despicable Me back in July, I've been curious about it. The animation looks great, the voice cast is solid, it comes from Christopher Meledandri, the producer of such underrated animated flicks as Robots and Horton Hears a Who! This might actually be something worth watching out for. And here, just days after Dreamworks released the abysmal trailer for How to Train Your Dragon, Universal and Illumination Entertainment have dropped a new, longer trailer via Apple. This time we finally meet Gru (voiced by Steve Carrell), the world's #2 supervillain. He's engaged in a war of wits with Vector (voiced by Jason Segel), the world's #1 supervillain. That's all we know for now -- but the film follows Gru's fight to become number one, and to steal the moon. That sounds fun. The Pierre Coffin, Chris Renaud and Sergio Pablos directed film will also feature the »

In July we posted the teaser trailer for Universal Pictures and Illumination Entertainment's Despicable Me, a computer animated film about a trio of orphan girls cause the normally deplorable Gru to rethink his plan to steal the moon. The trailer mostly focused on a world which has had famous landmarks stolen and completely replaced by giant blow-up replicas. The main character of the movie - Gru, who is voiced by Steve Carell, made a little more than a cameo appearance. This new trailer focuses more on the world's #2 super-villain character Gru, and his attempts to break into a secret lair of the world's #1 super-villain Vector. The voice cast line-up is pretty impressive, with a handful of Judd Apatow regulars with a couple nice surprises: Steve Carell, Jason Segel, Russell Brand, Kristen Wiig, Will Arnett, Danny McBride, Jemaine Clement, Miranda Cosgrove and Julie Andrews. However, you don't really get to hear »

Keira Knightley has been confirmed as the lead in 'My Fair Lady'.
After months of speculation, the British actress - who is known for her glowing performances in period blockbusters 'Atonement' and 'Pride and Prejudice' - will definitely play Eliza Doolittle in the remake of the 1964 play 'Pygmalion' by George Cukor.
The 24-year-old star will portray the lead character's journey from rags-to-riches in the big-screen adaptation of George Bernard Shaw's book.
The role was originally played by legendary actress Audrey Hepburn, while Julie Andrews appeared in the stage show.
Emma Thompson is writing the script and James Bond actor Daniel Craig is rumoured to be portraying Higgins. The film will be directed by 'Slumdog Millionaire' filmmaker Danny Boyle.
It is believed Keira has been practicing her singing voice for a year in the hope she would secure the role. »

My Fair Lady is my favorite musical because, if the film didn’t have a single song in it, there would still be a wonderful story in place. Much of it is the casting. Even though Julie Andrews played Eliza Doolittle in the stage version and also went on to star in The Sound of Music, it is hard to imagine anyone besides Audrey Hepburn transforming from shrieking Cockney flower girl into a tame and erudite high class woman. And so it came as some surprise to learn that not only is a remake of My Fair Lady being planned, as the Telegraph reports, but that Keira Knightley has beaten out Scarlett Johansson for the role of Eliza Doolittle. It’s hard to imagine someone so restrained and “practiced” in the role, but then, it’s hard to imagine Eliza Doolittle’s voice being emitted from an actual person (and not, »

For those not yet accustomed enough to her face, Keira Knightley, long rumoured to be on for the role, will shortly be starring as Eliza Doolittle in a redo of My Fair Lady. She'll be re-teaming with Joe Wright (Atonement, Pride and Prejudice), whose Indian Summer is currently on-hold, and possibly now permanently cancelled. As you'll recall from your A Levels, My Fair Lady is the famous musical based on George Bernard Shaw's song-free Pygmalion, in which cockernee Eliza Doolittle is taken under the wing of Professor 'Enry 'Iggins, and lady-fied, for a bet. Julie Andrews made the role her own on stage, but was passed over for George Cukor's 1964 film version in favour of Audrey Hepburn, whose voice was then dubbed for the singing bits. Not so with Keira, who's been taking singing lessons, and won the role despite stiff competition from Scarlett Johansson. Emma Thompson is writing the script, »

Probably one of the most coveted roles in film, My Fair Lady's Eliza Dolittle already has a history of being a role most sought after by big stars in cinema - Audrey Hepburn, Julie Andrews and Elizabeth Taylor, among others. Just now, The Telegraph reported that in the latest film adaptation, Keira Knightley was cast as the ambitious, working class girl who started out as a flower seller and became the toast of high society.
Details as follows:
"Joe and Keira are looking forward to working together again immensely," says a friend of the 37-year-old director.
In August, I reported that Knightley had been forced to compete with Johansson, 24, for the role of the Cockney flower seller played by Audrey Hepburn in the 1964 film.
"I have two actresses as potential Elizas, one British, the other American," said Sir Cameron Mackintosh, who is producing the film with Duncan Kenworthy, at the time. »
