Susan Sarandon has vowed to quit America with her longterm partner Tim Robbins if Republican John McCain wins November's presidential election.
The actress is rooting for Democrat contender Barack Obama, and is packing her bags in case he or party rival Hillary Clinton don't replace George W. Bush in the White House.
She says, "It's a critical time, but I have faith in the American people."
Sarandon also defends her support of Obama as opposed to Clinton, telling the New York Post, "I thought the whole point of feminism is that you're not supposed to be defined by gender. I don't understand the reasoning behind that, because I wouldn't vote for (U.S. Secretary of State) Condoleezza Rice, and I hated (former British prime minister) Margaret Thatcher."

Susan Sarandon has warned off actresses from dating directors - because on-set flings end in disaster.
The Thelma + Louise star embarked on a romance with French director Louis Malle while they were making 1978 film Pretty Baby together.
But Sarandon insists the relationship was doomed from the start, because the power balance between them was too difficult to redefine once the film had wrapped.
She explains, "That was a life lesson, for sure. Louis was 14 years older than me and very sophisticated, and I learned a lot during our relationship.
"The problem was that if you start to sleep with the director when you're making a film, then the dynamic is very hard to change.
She adds, "You're there to make his world happen for him, and that continues after the film is over, too - so when my world started to intrude on his, it didn't go down particularly well."

Susan Sarandon has admitted that she hates watching herself on screen.
The actress said she was happy to take a smaller role in adventure movie Speed Racer because she could see it without being too conscious of her own performance.
She is quoted as saying: "Most of the time when I watch a movie I'm in, it takes me about three times before I can see it because I'm so critical of myself.
"I'm not in Speed Racer so much so it was very painless for me to watch it. It's easier for me, because there's . . .

Veteran actress Susan Sarandon was unfazed when doctors told her she was infertile - because she never felt she needed a baby to make her happy.
The Oscar winner admits she never longed to have kids of her own and was not especially upset when she found out she may never conceive.
Sarandon resigned herself to a life without children, but, when she least expected it, she suddenly found herself pregnant.
She says, "When the doctor told me that (I was infertile), I was actually okay with it. Having had so many younger siblings and around 20 nieces and nephews, I'd done an enormous amount of child-caring already, so I wasn't one of those people who thought, 'To complete myself as a woman, I want to have a baby.'
"But part of me was very restless. I didn't feel hugely challenged by my career and I was looking for something to give my life more meaning.
"So I became involved politically and was very hands on. Then, lo and behold, I became pregnant."
The 61-year-old now has two sons, Jack, 19, and Miles, 16, with longterm partner and fellow actor Tim Robbins.

Veteran Hollywood actress Susan Sarandon never wants to have surgery - because she is scared of it.
The 61-year-old Pretty Baby star insists she hates the thought of having Botox because the facial immobility caused by the treatment would be detrimental to her acting career.
But Sarandon has not ruled out surgery entirely - insisting she may need to "tighten things up" when she reaches her 62nd birthday.
She says, "Well you know my feeling on Botox, and it's not good for my job to not be able to move my forehead, and you can see my lines anyway. I haven't had surgery either, because I'm afraid of it.
There are so many girls starting to look alike and so far, I've got away with it. But that doesn't mean I won't at some point.
"I'm not ruling out a little surgery around the jaw just to tighten things up, because I'm going to be 62 soon. But it's very frightening and I haven't really had the time to do it."

Hollywood actress Susan Sarandon has frank discussions with her children about her drug-taking youth in a bid to stop them following in her footsteps.
The 61-year-old has two sons, Jack, 19, and Miles, 16, with longterm partner, fellow actor Tim Robbins, and is determined to be honest with them whenever they ask about her wild youth.
Sarandon admits she took plenty of drugs during her time in 1970s Hollywood, and isn't afraid to share her experiences with the teenagers.
She says, "When they were pretty young, Miles said, 'Did you do crack?' and I had to explain, 'No, they didn't have crack in those days.'
"I never really took hard rugs - I was more a hallucinogens and weed type of girl. I've had very honest and upfront talks with my kids about sex and drugs.
"I've told them that all drugs are not the same and that some can kill you the first time you take them and that since they're illegal, you don't always know what you're getting."

Susan Sarandon has claimed that she would jump at the chance to work on a Speed Racer sequel.
The actress revealed that the cast were all signed up for a second movie if the directors Larry and Andy Wachowski decided to go ahead with the project.
"You have to say before you do it, that you will be interested in a sequel, so we're all signed up," she told Ds.
"If they want us, we're obligated. Would I be interested? Yeah I'm sure, if they come up with a story.
"They've told us little bits of possibilities . . .

Veteran Hollywood actress Susan Sarandon celebrated her landmark 60th birthday by having tattoos inked onto her skin.
Sarandon, now 61, used the body art to pay tribute to her three children Eva, Jack and Miles.
But the Oscar-winning star was shocked by how painful the procedure was.
She says, "I got my kids' initials tattooed on my back. It really hurt. It hurt so much more than I thought it would."
But the pain did not appear to deter the Dead Man Walking star from returning to the tattoo parlour for another etching: "I got another tattoo on my wrist afterwards. But I'm going to save the next one until I'm 70 or 80."

Sir Ian McKellen is taking a break from acting - because he is desperate to catch up on new releases at the cinema.
The X-Men star loves working on major movies, but his hectic schedule means he has very little time to indulge his real passion for film.
So McKellen has deliberately scheduled a break from work before his next project - Lord Of The Rings prequel The Hobbit - so he can watch more movies and support his fellow thespians.
Speaking at the London premiere of Speed Racer on Tuesday, he said, "I've come to support (the film's stars) Roger Allam and my dear friend Susan Sarandon.
"I'm having a rest, which means I can attend things like this. I'm taking a break until the autumn."

Great Brit Joan Collins would love to retire from showbusiness but she can't afford to.
The former Dynasty star insists she's not desperate enough to take any role that's offered to her, but she can't quit acting at 75.
She says, "I would (retire). Ninety nine per cent of actress would. (But) I don't have Barbra Streisand's money. I need to work."
And the actress admits she lost two recent movie roles she desperately wanted - to Shirley MacLaine and Susan Sarandon.
She tells the new issue of America's BlackBook magazine, "The one that Shirley MacLaine had in Bewitched, I was trying to get that for several years.
"And another right one was the role Susan Sarandon played in Enchanted."
But is Collins bitter about missing out on the smash-hit family film? Of Sarandon, she quips, "She always plays those parts where there is a missionary worker, or a grandchild has been abducted."

Demi Moore's looks may be the source of constant comment, but in her own mind, they're sometimes a source of anxiety. "Look, I would be lying if I said I don't have moments of panic when I look in the mirror and see things creeping in that weren't there before," Moore, 45, tells Harper's Bazaar for its April issue, about getting older. "But now I stop, and instead of focusing on my flaws, I think about all that I have in my life." Those rewards are not only tangible, she says, but human: "I have a wonderful marriage, I have three wonderful daughters,

Actor Brad Renfro, who became a child star at 14 in The Client but in recent years was plagued by numerous drug problems and arrests, was found dead at his Los Angeles home Tuesday morning; he was 25. While the Los Angeles County coroner confirmed to Access Hollywood that Renfro had died, a cause of death was not named. The Tennessee-born actor snagged an amazingly high-profile part for his first role, that of a young boy sought by the mafia in the 1994 adaptation of the John Grisham novel The Client, opposite established stars Susan Sarandon and Tommy Lee Jones. His impressive performance in the box office hit made him a high-profile young actor, and roles in such films as Tom and Huck, Sleepers and Telling Lies in America followed; he also appeared opposite Ian McKellen in Bryan Singer's controversial Apt Pupil, about a young student who blackmails his elderly neighbor, whom he believes is a Nazi war criminal. Despite a string of successful roles, including solid performances in Bully and Ghost World, Renfro reportedly found adapting to Hollywood difficult, and was arrested on a number of drug and theft charges. In 2000, he was arrested in Florida on grand theft charges for allegedly trying to steal a 45-foot yacht, and while on probation for the crime was jailed for underage drinking. Other arrests followed, and last year he was found in violation of his probation for failing to enroll in a drug treatment program. Most recently, Renfro had appeared in The Jacket as well as an episode of Law & Order: Criminal Intent. He had just wrapped filming on The Informers opposite Winona Ryder, Mickey Rourke, Billy Bob Thornton and Kim Basinger.

The actor still has cousins in Wrexham and Cheshire, England, according to makers of the documentary Bbc series Coming Home.
A Bbc spokesperson confirms, "We have commissioned a special Coming Home documentary about Russell Crowe retracing his family roots to Wales."
