The talented Brittany Murphy was involved with several film projects at the time of her death. Abandoned is one of two independent features that she was involved with prior to her passing on December 20th. Brittany stars with Dean Cain in this first trailer for Abandoned and in the clip, despite looking tired in one or two scenes, she looks fully cognicant or aware. Have a look at Brittany Murphy and co-stars Mimi Rogers with Tim Thomeson in this first trailer for Abandoned, which releases in 2010.
A synopsis for Abandoned here:
Mary Walsh (Brittany Murphy) delivers boyfriend Kevin (Dean Cain) to a hospital for routine outpatient surgery. But when Mary returns to take him home, he’s mysteriously vanished. An administrator (Mimi Rogers) can find no record of him, and a police search turns up nothing. Increasingly frantic, Mary’s taken to staff psychiatrist Dr. Bensley (Peter Bogdanovich), who pronounces her unstable. »

Film collaborators of Brittany Murphy spoke out in defence of the actress following a flood of reports she caused problems on set. The director of Abandoned, Michael Feifer, said: 'Brittany was a pro. When she needed to turn it on, she just threw a switch and she was on. She was that good at her craft. So playing frantic came really easy and playing sweet came really easy.' Others to appear in the psychological thriller that debuts next year are Dean Cain, Mimi Rogers and Peter Bogdanovich. Feifer quashed reports she was difficult to work with. He said: 'It hurts me to hear all this salacious stuff because my experience with Brittany was really one of my »

With the release of indie thriller Deadline on DVD last week we got to wondering what else the on-the-rocks Brittany Murphy would be in next. After doing a little digging, we discovered that she'll actually be starring in another indie thriller called Abondoned which takes it's cues from The Vanishing and actually looks like it could be a winner.
There's no official synopsis available for the in-production film, but based on the trailer we've got below the film appears to be about a woman whose husband goes in for surgery. When he never comes out again and no one has any record of him ever being alive, her world starts to unravel. But is it all in her head? Yep, it's one of those kinds of films.
Surprisingly enough the film stars a pretty good cast with Mimi Rogers and the great Peter Bogdonovich so-starring.

Rosario Dawson will star alongside Denzel Washington and Chris Pine in Fox.s runaway train drama "Unstoppable," directed by Tony Scott. Washington formally withdrew from "Unstoppable" in early July, then came to terms with the studio two weeks later to put the film back on track for a fall start. Washington plays a veteran engineer who jumps into a locomotive with a young conductor (Pine) to stop an unmanned runaway train loaded with toxic cargo. According to Variety, Julie Yorn is producing with Scott and Mimi Rogers, and Chris Ciaffa is the executive producer. The script, written by Mark Bomback, is loosely inspired by true events. »

Two weeks after formally stating his withdrawal from "Unstoppable", Denzel Washington is coming back to join the 20th Century Fox's drama. On Wednesday, July 22, Variety reported that the two-time Academy Award-winner and the studio have closed the deal which makes the project back on its track.
Back on July 14, the publication came up with a story that Washington decided to let go of his attachment to the movie project. Rumors at that time suggested the actor left the project because the studio tried to cut down their budget which resulted in them asking him to shave some of his fee. Following Washington's withdrawal, the studio allegedly prepared a new offer with hope that he might reconsider his decision of leaving the movie project.
Though leaving the project, Washington was said to go with director Tony Scott to promote "The Taking of Pelham 123" in Europe and take a fresh draft of the film's script with him. »

Streep at 60: We've been looking at each Meryl Streep Oscar nod and its competition. Previously 78, 79, 81, 82 and 83, 85, 87 and 88
I believe that Meryl Streep's film career can be divided into five chapters or acts (thus far).
Act I (Liberated Lady) 1977-1981Act II (Chamaeleonidae Erotica) 1981-1988Act III (Funny Lady) 1989-1992Act IV (???) 1993-2001Act V (The Great Entertainer) 2002-presentAfter the High Drama years it came as a shock to many when Meryl was suddenly making comedies. Some felt it was a career crisis and there was some backlash going on. This is possibly hard to comprehend for her new young fans but great success always leads to it and many people were sick of Streep's total dominance as the Eighties wound down. It was somewhat common wisdom at the time that her run at the top was ending, having turned 40 in 1989. Several younger stars were coming into their own »

We've been looking at each Meryl Streep Oscar nod and its competitive field. Previously: 78, 79, 81, 82, 83 and 85
Meryl Streep's first act was the Liberated Lady. The second was The Chameleon in which Meryl was always the lead, always had new hair, voice and body language and basically controlled Oscar's Universe. It was as if there was only 4 spots for Best Actress, one reserved for her in perpetuity. This second act ended with her intense immersion into notorious dingo-hating Lindy Chamberlain in A Cry in the Dark. [Editor's Note: Yes, I'll do a top ten performance list when "Streep at 60" wraps in mid July. I've heard your requests and I've been rewatching all the movies.]
Starting in 1989 Act III of Streep's career began but we'll get to that shortly. First, let's look at her competition in the last two years of her legendary Act II.

Ten/Four Pictures will be bringing the horror audience two new films very soon. First of the two that is coming is really the first of the films that the founders produced together called "Order Of Chaos". That film stars Milo Ventimiglia, Rhys Coiro, Mimi Rogers and Samantha Mathis. "Order Of Chaos" chronicles the duplicitous relationship between a naive attorney (Coiro) and a neighbor-colleague (Ventimiglia) and their fierce competition to move up in the firm and get ahead in life. I'm going to assume that what they mean by getting "ahead in life" they mean murder. The second film that Ten/Four will be releasing is called "Lucky" and sounds more like it will fit in with the horror crowd. The movie is billed as a dark comedy directed by Gil Cates Jr. about a serial killer who »

Hot off the Enterprise’s boosters from Star Trek, the man who played James Tiberius Kirk is now going to be even more Unstoppable.
Variety is reporting that Chris Pine is in negotiations to star in Unstoppable a drama from 20th Century Fox to be directed by The Taking of Pelham 123’s Tony Scott. Denzel Washington is already attached to the project.
The film is about “a young conductor who jumps into a locomotive with an experienced engineer in chase of a runaway train that carries a cargo of toxic chemicals.” Pine is zeroing on playing the young conductor in the story based on actual events. The script was written by Mark Bomback.
Julie Yorn, Tony Scott, and Mimi Rogers will be producing, with Chris Ciaffa executive producing.

Hi guys - sorry I’m late. I was busy talking to Paula Abdul on the red carpet. Seriously. More on that later…
But for now, it’s time to live-blog the “American Idol” finale! Yay!

8:06 pm - What’s the worst part about being an “Idol” finalist? Having to sing songs about mountains and hurricanes or being forced to wear all white on the finale? At least Adam’s wearing space boots.
8:06 pm - Mikalah Gordon is in Conway, Arkansas. This is the first time they’ve seen a real live drag queen. It’s a night of firsts!!
8:07 pm - Carly Smithson is in San Diego. »

Order of Chaos was first discovered by us film news connoisseurs when that well oiled poster you see to the right dropped just a few months back. Back then, no one really knew what the film was about except that it was written and directed on a modest 1 million dollar budget by actor Vince Vieluf (Hysteria, Firewall). We were all dying to see traierage, and now we have it for ya!

The end credits of Penny Dreadful (part of After Dark Horrorfest) state that the movie is “© 2005 Dreadful Films.” Must…not…make…obvious…joke. Actually, I have to be fair and say that this isn’t a dreadful film, just a quite problematic one—starting with the fact that the title is rather misleading. The storyline has nothing to do with the Victorian-era “penny dreadful” pulp tales; it is about a girl named Penny, but she isn’t dreadful, though dreadful things do happen to her.
Quite a few of them, in fact, starting with a prologue auto crash that she survives but which bloodily kills her parents when she’s a young girl. The next we see of her, she’s a teenager (Rachel Miner) with a phobia of cars who’s being taken on a therapeutic road trip by her psychologist, Orianna (Mimi Rogers). The fact that the attendant »
