Nobody seemed quite capable of dismissing or faintly praising, then dismissing "My Blueberry Nights" (2007) fast enough when it wandered into American theaters this April . it was as if the collective unconscious had decided to make Wong Kar-wai pay in little cuts for both the demanding ordeal he put us all through with "2046" and for the hubris he subsequently displayed by daring to shoot his next film in the U.S., in English, and casting an inexperienced pop star (Norah Jones) in the lead. Fortunately, the film press one-upmanship has already faded into the disposable past, and the movie remains with us, nothing less than a blessing, a quintessentially Wongian daydream of romantic suspension and sweet lyrical conceits. If you require the Hong Kong context and the Cantonese-with-subtitles with your balladeering Wongness, you're just an import film slummer . "My Blueberry Nights" plays like a trip-around-the-world continuation of "Chungking Express,

But Snow insists she's learned her lesson since the embarrassing incident, adding, "She's (Portman) probably so weirded out by this... Note to self: don't ever do that again."

The dollar wasn't the only thing hurting at this year's disappointing Cannes Film Festival, which wrapped on Sunday with the festival's highest honor, the Palme d'Or, being awarded to the French film, The Class. (See a full list of winners.) This year's main competition, featuring 22 films (including four by American directors), was generally considered a less than thrilling year, with only a few outstanding films, including Clint Eastwood's Changeling, and a couple outright stinkers. The Class, directed by Laurent Cantet (Heading South), is based on a real life memoir about a dedicated teacher instructing a multi-cultural mix of students in a school in Paris.

Natalie Portman has claimed that she was upset when nude movie pictures of her appeared on porn sites last year.
The actress, who stripped off for her role in Hotel Chevalier, said it was unfortunate that people focused on her nudity rather than the film's qualities.

Actress Natalie Portman hates a sex scene she filmed for movie Hotel Chevalier - because critics and reviewers focused on her nudity and not the film itself.
The star recorded the scene last year, and admits she regrets stripping off on the big screen as her picture ended up on pornographic websites.
She says, "It's not that I regret the film, but it really depressed me that half of every review on the film was about the nudity. It made me think I shouldn't have done it.
"I'm not prudish about nudity. I think it's beautiful in films, and sex is such a big part of life. My issue is that I feel it takes something away from what you're doing when the focus is put on the wrong thing. My picture ended up on porn sites, and that's the dilemma."

Actor Sean Penn has refuted reports he will be biased towards friend Clint Eastwood's film entry for the Palme D'Or award at this year's Cannes International Film Festival.
The Hollywood star is the 2008 jury president, and has come under fire from internet bloggers who believe he will use his powerful position to ensure Eastwood's film Changeling will come out on top.
Actor-turned-director Eastwood is competing for the prestigious Palme D'Or award at this month's (14-25May08) festival for the 1920s thriller - which stars Angelina Jolie, Amy Ryan and John Malkovich.
Rumours of Penn's alleged favouritism towards Eastwood stem from their time spent filming 2003's Mystic River - which won Penn an Academy Award for Best Actor in 2004.
But Penn has angrily refuted the accusations, insisting the winning film will stand triumphant on its own merits - and not because the director has pals on the judging panel.
He says, "It is an emotional impossibility for people on this jury to favour films by friends of ours. But we will not be biased against, either.
"If Clint Eastwood has done a film worth awarding, we're going to f**k-well award it. It is not going to serve anyone to be a friend, or not to be a friend, or any member of the jury."
Penn adds, "This won't be a competition. Between us we will come to a consensus that some films that deserve it will get a leg-up and be shared with a wider audience."
The Palme D'Or judging panel will be headed up by Sean Penn, Natalie Portman and former Harry Potter director Alfonso Cuaron.

Director Brett Ratner ran into trouble when producing his contribution for forthcoming movie New York, I Love You - because authorities in the city enforced strict rules about filming in the famous Central Park.
The film is made up of six-minute segments, all telling different stories about New York and filmed by different directors - including actresses Scarlett Johansson and Natalie Portman, who both make their directorial debuts.
Ratner - who has directed blockbusters including the Rush Hour film trilogy and X-Men: The Last Stand - opted to produce his segment for the film in the city's famous green space.
But he admits the short, which required actress Olivia Thirlby to swing from a tree in the park, nearly didn't get made because of overzealous authorities.
He tells the New York Daily News, "You can do what you want in Central Park, unless you're doing it for a film. Then, you can't touch anything. Olivia weighs about 80 pounds, but we weren't allowed to have her hanging from a tree.
"We had to buy a dead tree from a prop house and bring it to Central Park. We also couldn't walk on the grass, so we had to get a crane to stand the tree up on concrete, then put grass and mulch around it, so it looked real. It was insane."

Star Wars actress Natalie Portman has been named the most eco-friendly star, after topping a list of celebrities who go out of their way to care for the planet.
The Hollywood beauty won a special mention by campaigners at green website Grist.org - who praised her work to save gorillas in Rwanda, her role as the face of a low-energy lightbulb company and the launch of her vegan shoe range.
Other stars to be honoured by the planet-friendly firm include Leonardo DiCaprio, Cameron Diaz, Julia Roberts and Brad Pitt.
However, organisers singled out a handful of A-listers as particularly non-environmentally friendly.
The worst offenders were named as David Beckham, for the amount of flights he takes annually; British model Elizabeth Hurley, for flying 250 guests to her 2007 wedding in India, and the Spice Girls, for their use of private jets.
