Kamen's Law: Check Your Attitude

19 hours ago | SCOREcastOnline.com | See recent SCOREcastOnline.com news »

It's no secret that 2009 was a slow year for a ton of people. Coming off the slump that the world economy has been in for the last two years, for many facets of the entertainment biz, things couldn't get much worse. As we’ve wrapped up this last year, I have heard numerous sighs of relief, seen many puffed up cheeks of exhaustion, and felt the overwhelming dark cloud of “what now?” on Facebook, MySpace, and Twitter. Generally, it seems that most of us are perfectly happy to blow a kiss goodbye to the last decade and get on with this new one that, just like that, is suddenly upon us.

As we focus on this new year, and with that, the new topic here at Sco of “Getting the Gig”, I’d like to encourage you and your business by suggesting something to you that you may not appreciate. »

Robert Pattinson in The Twilight Saga: New Moon (Kimberley French / Summit Entertainment) (top); Tom Hanks in Angels & Demons (Zade Rosenthal / Columbia) (bottom) Forget Oscar. Think Razzie. If they put on a TV show for the 2010 Razzie Awards, I bet they’ll get better ratings than the Academy Awards — that is, if any of the nominees bother to show up. This year, the Razzies list may well include Robert Pattinson, Megan Fox, Taylor Lautner, Kristen Stewart, The Twilight Saga: New Moon, Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen, Gerard Butler, Sarah Jessica Parker, Miley Cyrus, Sandra Bullock, Beyoncé Knowles, Will Ferrell, Katherine Heigl, Anne Hathaway, Kate Hudson, and Hannah Montana: The Movie, among its nominees and winners in some capacity [...] »

Sandra Bullock Voted Top Star of 2009! See the Complete Top 10 List!

3 January 2010 12:51 PM, PST | Manny the Movie Guy | See recent Manny the Movie Guy news »

Quigley Publishing Company has released its 78th Annual Poll of Exhibitors and Sandra Bullock has been voted the Top Money-Making Star of 2009.

Bullock is the first female to win since Julia Roberts in 1999. She appeared in two of the biggest films of 2009 namely "The Blind Side" and "The Proposal." Okay, we already forgave her for the abysmal "All About Steve."

(Check out my fun interview with Bullock for "The Proposal" right here)

The Quigley Poll, conducted each year since 1932, is an annual survey of motion picture theatre owners and film buyers, which asks them to vote for the ten stars that they believe generated the most box-office revenue for their theatres during the year. It has been long regarded as one of the most reliable indicators of a Star.s real box-office draw because the selections are done by people whose livelihood depends on choosing the films that will bring audiences to their theatres. »

23 Movies Worth Saving (From the First 23 Years of My Life)

2 January 2010 1:16 PM, PST | WeAreMovieGeeks.com | See recent WeAreMovieGeeks.com news »

With the Library of Congress’ recent announcement of the 25 films being added to our National Film Registry for 2009, I was inspired to look back over some of the films that haven’t yet been included. In doing so, I noticed there are many films from my lifetime that deserve eventual recognition. The National Film Preservation Board selects up to 25 films each year to be included in the Registry, so I have selected 23 yet unselected films from my lifetime (one for each year) that I would like to nominate for 2010… in fact, I’ve actually submitted my list of nominations to the National Film Preservation Board, as they encourage the public to do. More info on this can be found at their website.

This list of 23 films spans my lifetime, which means they fall between my year of birth (1978) and the new cut-off year which is 10 years back (2000). This is Not »

New Toy Story 3 Featurette Reveals Mr. Pricklepants

2 January 2010 11:10 AM, PST | ScreenRant.com | See recent Screen Rant news »

We learned a few months back that former James Bond actor, Timothy Dalton, is voicing a new character in Pixar’s upcoming sequel, Toy Story 3. The character is called Mr. Pricklepants, a hedgehog who’s described to have “thespian tendencies,” which makes Dalton a great choice for the role (on top of the fact he has a brilliantly distinctive voice).

Those lucky enough to be in the room for the Disney’s D23 event earlier this year got a look at Mr. Pricklepants, along with the first full-length Toy Story 3 trailer. But we now have a new featurette (which premiered on the Disney Channel) featuring director Lee Unkrich and gives us our first official look at the character. Other than that, it doesn’t give much else away that we haven’t seen before in other trailers and clips, but for any fans of Toy Story and Pixar »

Another year, another Harry Potter; well, half of one. Part one of Harry Potter And The Deathly Hallows is destined for a dust-up with the next Narnia movie, Voyage Of The Dawn Treader, next Christmas. Other usual suspects with sequel-denying titles include Shrek Forever After (Aka Shrek 4), Little Fockers (Meet The Parents 3), and Eclipse, part 3 of the Twilight saga. More enticing are a product recall for the Toy Story gang, who must escape a daycare centre, and Iron Man 2, which pits Robert Downey against Mickey Rourke. And let's see how the recession affects the shopping of Manhattan's first ladies in Sex And The City 2.

On New Year’s Eve, before the clock struck midnight, director Lee Unkrich tweeted, “Enjoying the last day I can say ‘Toy Story 3′ doesn’t come out next year’”.  Indeed we have entered 2010, the year of the latest update in the Toy Story franchise, and today a clip that introduces a crucial new character, pretentious thespian hedgehog Mr. Pricklepants, has hit the net.  The sequel will follow the toys we know and love (Buzz, Woody, Hamm, Rex, Mr. and Mrs. Potato Head, Slinky Dog, and more) plus a few new playthings (Lotso and Mr. Pricklepants) when they head to a daycare center as owner Andy heads off to college.  Tom Hanks, Tim Allen, Joan Cusack, Wallace Shawn, John Ratzenberger, Don Rickles, and Estelle Harris will reprise their roles, while Ned Beatty and Timothy Dalton will voice new the aforementioned new toys.

Sandra Bullock Named Top Box Office Star of 2009

1 January 2010 3:02 PM, PST | Cinematical | See recent Cinematical news »

In an annual Quigley Publishing Company list, Sandra Bullock was named the top box office draw of 2009. The list is not based on strict box office numbers, but on exhibitor polling of what stars they perceive as the biggest theatrical draws. The theatre owners gave the nod to Bullock based on the success of The Proposal (which grossed $315 million worldwide) and The Blind Side (whose domestic take is at $190 million and counting).

It's a strong comeback for the 45-year old actress, whose drawing power has been spotty over the past ten years. Her last starring role before 2009's triple-header (which also included the bomb All About Steve) was in 2007's Premonition, which opened to lukewarm numbers.

Sandra Bullock is the first woman to top the list since 1999, when Julia Roberts took the number one spot. Bullock is followed on the list, in order, by Johnny Depp, Matt Damon, George Clooney, »

Brand New Wonderful Mini-Featurette for Pixar's Toy Story 3

1 January 2010 12:10 PM, PST | firstshowing.net | See recent FirstShowing.net news »

Disney has debuted a one-minute mini-featurette for Pixar's Toy Story 3 titled "Drawn to Animation." It looks like it aired on the Disney Channel, but I'm not entirely sure, since it's just a straight YouTube upload (via SlashFilm). Besides seeing the awesome Lee Unkrich talk about what they're doing in this new sequel, we finally get our first look at the brand new character of Mr. Pricklepants. Voiced by actor Timothy Dalton, Mr. Pricklepants is a hedgehog toy with thespian tendencies. Another big new character we've heard about previously (and even had a cameo in Up) is the teddy bear Lotso, but we still haven't seen him yet. Enjoy!
