Helena Bonham Carter is in negotiations to appear in McG’s upcoming action flick “Terminator Salvation,” the fourth installment in the popular series launched by James Cameron in 1984.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Carter’s role would be small but crucial to the story. The film stars Christian Bale in the role of lead character John Connor, who struggles to prevent the ruthless machines from eradicating humanity.
Anton Yelchin, Sam Worthington, Moon Bloodgood and Bryce Dallas Howard co-star. “Terminator Salvation: The Future Begins” already started principal photography, with a release date set for May 22, 2009. A potential SAG strike could however cause delays in the production.
Bonham Carter was last seen alongside Johnny Depp in “Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street.” She will next reprise her role as Bellatrix Lestrange in “Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince.”

It was announced this evening that Tim Burton fav Helena Bonham Carter (pictured inside) could soon be joining the battle between man and cyborg as the Oscar-nominated actress is in talks to board McG's Terminator Salvation, the fourth installment in the franchise kicked off by James Cameron in 1984. The roles in the new film have been kept under wraps, but insiders described the Bonham Carter role as small but pivotal. Principal photography on the Halcyon-produced movie, which looks at the origins of the battle between humans and Skynet, started last month in New Mexico, with the idea that most exteriors will be shot before a potential SAG strike. Warners is scheduled to release the action film May 22, 2009.

Movie director James Cameron has said the video game version of his forthcoming film Avatar will require 3D glasses. Cameron told Cnet: "Stereo production is the next big thing. We are born seeing in three dimensions. Most animals have two eyes and not one. There is a reason, I think." James Cameron has confirmed that his next project will be the romantic film The Dive.
The film, based on a true story, focuses on the relationship between free divers Francisco Ferreras and Audrey Mestre. Mestre broke several world records for holding her breath underwater but died while diving in 2002.
Cameron told The Hollywood Reporter that he will continue to use the 3-d techniques he pioneered on Imax documentaries Ghosts of the Abyss and Aliens . . .

Fans would be thrilled to know that Avatar: The Last Airbender has made enough waves in the entertainment industry to have a film adaptation to its name. In fact, they’d be happier to know that M. Night Shyamalan, the man behind the success of the film The Sixth Sense, has enlisted his talents for the making of the live-action film adaptation, which is set to be released on July 2, 2010. According to Variety, the production team has titled the film “The Last Airbender,” dropping the “Avatar” to avoid confusion with James Cameron’s upcoming flick of the same name, which is set to be released in December 2009.
Avatar: The Last Airbender was inspired and influenced by Japanese filmmaker Hayao Mizahaki, whom Shyamalan believes is one of the greatest storytellers in the world. Shyamalan adds that “In 'The Last Airbender,' I see an opportunity to make a live-action version of a Miyazaki film.

Director James Cameron has revealed he wants to shoot a feature-length "dramatic film" in 3-d.
In an interview with Variety, the Titanic helmer disputed the misconception that 3-d technology can only be used for spectacle films such as Beowulf and U2 3D.
"I plan to shoot a small dramatic film in 3-d, just to prove this point," he said.
Cameron's next film Avatar, his first in over a decade, will be released later in the year and was filmed using the dual-strip 3-d Fusion Camera that he helped create.
