Composed the familiar Warner Brothers fanfare, which is rarely heard in its entirety - it modulates into the opening theme of the film it precedes.

At 14, he composed and conducted his first opera.

He conducted in England in 1904, and in Paris in 1911. After arriving in the US in 1914, he conducted Broadway musicals.

His popular tunes include "A Summer Place", "Honey Babe", "Kathy", "So Big", "My Own True Love", "It Can't Be Wrong", "Someday I'll Meet You Again", "As Long As I Live", "On My Way", and "Sugarfoot".
