Below you will find a list of frequently asked questions. You can click on any of these to jump directly to the appropriate section. If you know of other issues that should be addressed on this page, please send us your suggestions.
What new features are available? Top
We've added a variety of new features to make using our messages boards a simpler, and hopefully more fun experience. First of all, we heard your complaints about the old messages boards being slow, so we have installed a faster database. Many of the features, from posting to the layout of the pages, are a much cleaner, easy-to-use style. The new boards include a ignore list system, which allows you to block messages written by users you specify. Posting will be more animated, literally, with the addition of a whole slew of amusing mark up icons. The boards also feature a more in-depth search engine, letting you find the posts that interest you much more quickly. When you've found your favorite boards, you can bookmark them with our Favorites feature, for quick access when you login. Finally, we've made it easier to report abuse, by adding a clickable link that points out errant postings to us.

What happened to the messages on the old boards? Top
Messages posted on the old boards have been archived here for a few weeks for reference and so that they can be manually copied over. Unfortunately, the new board technology is not compatible with the old boards, so it was not possible to import the messages automatically into the new boards.

Can threads be sorted so the most recently active appear first? Top
Yes. To make the new boards behave like the old in this respect, please visit your profile page by clicking the 'My Profile' link in the upper right corner of any boards page. In the 'Display Options' section, change the default sort to 'Active Threads First'.

Can I attach a file to my post? Top
No. File attachment is not available for these boards.

Can I use HTML in my posts? Top
No, but we do have a vast selection of icons and mark up options, instead. Check them out here.

Do I have to be authenticated to post? Top
Yes. Authentication of your account is entirely voluntary and quite quick. You can use an Amazon account that has made a purchase within a year, a credit card (no money will be charged to it), or a text message to your mobile telephone to verify your identity. Once that's done you'll be able to post messages, reply to others' messages, and send and receive private messages from friends on this site.

How can I search for a post? Top
There are two ways to search the boards. One is a quick and easy way to see all the messages you have posted that are still on the boards (many of the boards delete messages over a certain age so they don't become cluttered), the other is a powerful search with a variety of options. Please see our Help Section for detailed searching instructions.

What is an ignore list? Top
An ignore list lets you block posts and private messages from any user you select. To add a user to your ignore list, simply click on their user ID, and you will see their user profile. From there, just click on "Ignore postings from..." link and you will no longer see posts or private messages written by the user. To review which users are on your ignore list, click on the "My Profile" link at the top of each page, and a list of ignored users will appear at the bottom of your profile page.

How do I remove someone from my ignore list? Top
To remove someone from your ignore list, click on "My Profile", and scroll to the bottom of your profile page to your ignore list. Simply click the checkbox next to their name and press the "Remove" button, and their ID will be instantly removed from your ignore list, allowing you to read any messages or private messages that user writes.

How do I report an abusive post? Top
Each post has a "Report abuse" link in the grey header bar above the text. Click on the link, provide a description of your complaint in the window provided, and then click the "Submit Report" button. Your report will then be automatically sent to us for review and action, if appropriate.

How do I delete a post? Top
Each post you make will have a "Delete" button in the grey header bar above the text. Simply click the "Delete" button, and your post will be removed.

Can I edit a message after I've posted it? Top
Yes, editing a post is possible. Each post you make will have an "Edit" button in the grey header bar above the text. Click the "Edit" button and the text of your message will be re-opened for your corrections and additions. You may also delete your message, then make corrections and repost it, if you prefer.

What is the "Friends" page for? Top
The Friends page works very much like an address book, letting you add the user names of your friends and family on the boards, so that you can send them private messages quickly and easily.

Why have messages disappeared from my private messages outbox? Top
If a message has disappeared from your private message outbox, this means that the user has received, read and deleted the message you sent.
