Pinocchio is a fairy tale character created by the Italian children's writer Carlo Collodi in the late 1880s.

The story

The story is about a carpenter named Gepetto who makes a boy made of wood. The Blue Fairy comes along ang makes the wooden boy come alive. Pinocchio wants to be a real boy, and in order to do that he must endure a series of tests. At the end, he passes those test and becomes a real boy.

Due to his magical nature, Pinocchio's wooden nose grows every time he lies. When he tells the truth, his nose shrinks back.

The Disney character

The Disney movie "Pinocchio" (1940) was adapted as a world, Monstro, in "Kingdom Hearts", a video game released in 2002 and "Kingdom Hearts: Chain of Memories".

In "Kingdom Hearts", Pinocchio is taken away by Riku to study him in order to save Kairi, so Sora, Goofy and Donald must rescue him.

In "Kingdom Hearts: Chain of Memories", the Heartless invade Monstro (the giant whale where Pinocchio and Gepetto live), so Sora, Goofy and Donald must protect them.

The Disney version of Pinocchio also appeared as a guest in "House of Mouse", and appears in the final scene in Marvin Acme's factory in "Who Framed Roger Rabbit".

Pinocchio in "Shrek"

Pinocchio is one of Shrek's fairy tale friend in the "Shrek" movies. In "Shrek 2", he rescues him, Donkey and Puss in Boots from a dungeon. In "Shrek the Third", the fact that he can't liue without anyone noticing forces him to tell Prince Charming where Shrek is.
