Hills Have Eyes, The (1977)

THE HILLS HAVE EYES (Anchor Bay Entertainment) Wes Craven's second feature was crucified upon its release in 1977.

Now this two-disc release puts the film in perspective. Compared to some of the explicit horror films of the past few years, Hills seems rather tame today.

The film has been digitally restored and looks as clean and sharp as it did in its original release.

The second disc contains a wealth of bonus materials including a look back at the film, which includes interviews with writer-director Craven, producer Peter Locke and actors Michael Berryman, Janus Blythe, Robert Houston, Susan Lanier and Dee Wallace, among others.

Other extras include a look at Craven's career, the film's alternate ending, behind-the-scenes photos, a Craven biography and the original screenplay.

Fans of Craven's films, as well as those who appreciate fine scary features, can't go wrong with this sharply-honed reissue.
