Paper Moon (1973)

PAPER MOON (Paramount Home Entertainment). Tatum O'Neal became the youngest Oscar winner in the history of the Academy Awards for her performance in Peter Bogdanovich's 1973 black-and-white, period-piece comedy.

The disc includes a featurette in which Bogdanovich talks about his decision to film in black and white, how he came to cast O'Neal and his decision to film on location in Kansas and the problems that entailed.

On the film's commentary, Bogdanovich's talk would be of more interest to the film buff than the layman as he describes various aspects of filmmaking he utilized - deep-focus camera work, long, uninterrupted takes and his use of filters to achieve more contrast in the black-and-white..

The film's widescreen transfer is sharp. This DVD would be a wonderful addition to any collection.
