STAR TREK: NEMESIS (Paramount Home Video): If, as the publicity claims, Nemesis is the last voyage of the "Next Generation" crew, then they could not have had a better send off. Nemesis combines slam-bang action, great special effects and fine acting as Capt. Picard literally battles himself.
The film's transfer to DVD is top notch in picture and sound quality. The various explosions and battle scenes spring off the screen.
The DVD is filled with enough extras to satisfy any fan of the "Star Trek" franchise, including deleted scenes - one of which, a conversation between Picard and Data, is a gem; and four documentaries on the making of the film, including behind-the-scenes on creating some of the special effects as well as interviews with the various cast members.
Criticism can only be found with director Stuart Baird's dry commentary in which he talks of his love of crane shots, his compulsion to trim every scene to its bare bones and the influence of early German Expressionist films on the look of Nemesis.
