My Big Fat Greek Wedding
Four of five stars, 80% fresh

There wasn't much playing last weekend and we'd heard good things about "My Big Fat Greek Wedding", so we decided to give it a try.

It's surprisingly good. The best way to describe it is a Greek version of "Tony and Tina's Wedding". It's not a farce, but is genuinely funny. It's kid friendly (I can't remember hearing a single word you couldn't say in church) and has no nudity, no car chases, no explosions, in fact, absolutely nothing going for it except a compelling story, interesting characters and snappy dialog.

Daughter Shannon (eight years old), wifeTammy and I saw it together and all of us enjoyed it. Shannon was not bored by all the talking, and there were several places she thought were hilarious.

There's a place where the groom admits he's vegetarian to future Aunt-In-Law, and she says "that's ok, I'll make lamb". We've run into people like that...

"My Big Fat Greek Wedding" is not Gone with the Wind, but it's definitely worth seeing.
